Killed 7 since Oct 3rd. Here's the aftermath of attempted inside the house invasion battles....

kills 5 6 and 7 are from the same mouse trap underneath the garbage fridge. Kill 4 was in a metal "live" trap that is set up to be a death trap. The other 3 kills came from glue pads. I have these bastards down as to what the hell they do and where they move, but the carnage...ohh the carnage!!!
I think you might be enjoying your traps a little too much ;) [Coffee]

We've caught 13 of the bastards since the first cold snap at the office.

I'm in the same boat, killed several
Our travel trailer had a mouse problem this summer. I caught 9 one day/night. Didn't even have to put bait in the traps, I just put them against the walls of a cabinet they were passing through.
It's so satisfying to empty a trap.

What bait are you using? Last winter I had a bunch of traps down, but only caught one. Saw a bunch of others though....
We have a feral cat living somewhere out in the weeds in front of the shop this year. it looks surprisingly well fed, and we haven't had any mice inside yet...coincidence?

With all the earth moving they have been doing for the C-470 expansion/upgrade, our neighborhood has been infested with rats. Big, big rats. Everyone is complaining about them. My dogs are ever vigilant and have killed one and proudly brought it in to show their mom, who promptly screamed and ran out of the room.

Peanut butter .
We found the easiest way to eliminate rodents in the home was to plug any gaps with steel wool .

Got a Tom cat. Rodents are a distant memory. Oliver is a killing machine...

i use PB also, didn't think about the steel wool though...maybe some PB laced with steel wool might tear them apart from the inside...

LOL
In the 80s I lived off 128th and CO blvd - nothing but fields to the north. Damn mice would get in the house, I took great pleasure in trapping them in glue and smashing their skulls with a hammer.

You already know this, but not even a little bit of a coincidence.
My mom had a cat move into her barn, we don't know where he came from, but he's one hell of a hunter. She has had noticeably fewer pigeons, rabbits, and mice than ever before.
I saw him when I was over there the other day, and he's certainly well fed and stout.

I'm the only one in the office today, and a trap behind me just went off. Leaning back in the desk chair with my feet up and laptop on my legs...
I'd be lying if I said I didn't almost fall out of my chair, and then get all excited that another one was gone...

The one they brought into the house was twice the size of that one; I thought it was a calico cat because it was white with brown spots.

Perhaps a powerful .22 cal pellet rifle With a scope. Kill two rats with one stone so to speak. Target practice to keep your skills sharp and rodent control.
We don't have any in the ouse because of our cats; outside is a different story. I sated putting out a dish of kitty kibble and we've had two or three indoor-outdoor cats swing by. Now we are a part of the cats' rounds, and they nosh on a bit of kibble, grab themselves a mouse or two, and they're on their way.
Peanut butter works great. I prefer the traps that have a metal bait tray/trigger, it has a rolled tube-like bait area, and you can stuff the peanut butter inside it so they have to work at it. The plastic cheese-looking bait trays, the little bastards can just lick the pb off of it without tripping it. The metal triggers can also be "tuned" with a little bending to make them more sensitive.
I fucking HATE mice! Nothing pisses me off more than finding where they've been tearing stuff up, pissing and shitting everywhere. Grrrr.....

Snap trap with a metal bait pedal. Sew a small piece of raw bacon onto the pedal with needle and thread. Smear with a little peanut butter. Sit back and watch the action. You likely won't have to re-bait for quite some time.
Learned that one from my grandfather. They attempt to bite the bait and their teeth get caught in the chewy bacon and thread and WHAM! Shake out the deceased and re-set against a wall.
I've also had good luck with a small piece of cheese lightly pressed onto the pedal and tied with fishing line barely cutting into the cheese. Same concept when they get their teeth over a piece of the line. Even the dried out cheese continues to work.

Yeah, but it's so damned funny.
I hate mice too. Not a problem in my house yet, but I do have 2 cats. Had a problem with them getting into my truck & camper during hunting season for a couple of years. Read online that using 1/4 bars of Irish Spring soap would keep them away. An 8 pk of Irish Spring later and I had nice smelling mice running around. The next year I bought a dozen spring traps with the metal plate and added a touch of peanut butter. The first day I caught 8 mice between my truck (3) and camper (5). I always use nitrile or latex gloves to empty/reset the traps so I don't catch ebola (jk, I just think mice are disgusting and don't want to touch their residue). The next day I caught another 6 mice. No more after that. Haven't had a problem with them since then but I am prepared for the bastards should they return.

I've found that the old fashioned snap traps are one of the most effective options out there...and they're cheap.

This! Damn cheap and VERY effective!
5-gallon bucket trap. Make it yourself, or get one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Original-Rolling-Drilling-Required-included/dp/B07382R2FS/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_201_lp_t_3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=RY26TRWDH0AG9JH6G9Q1&dpID=41ssrRmfdQL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=detail
Smear with peanut butter, add a few inches of water, and it will kill them all in short order.

Sometimes they used to lick the peanut butter off the trigger of my snap traps, without setting the trap off.
Now I tie a piece of string or yarn to the trigger and smear the peanut butter into that.
Have not had a cleaned trigger since.
I use gloves also.
Just added PB to my traps. We have been getting little bugs similar to rolly-pollies that eat the shit out of it off the trap in just a day or two. I've been spraying and smashing them.
Sealed up the garage super tight and so far nothing in the house. Before sealing the garage I was getting multiple a day. Now const. nearby and got me some 5 gallon bucket redneck traps set up outside. I added oil so it wouldn't freeze. My dog has caught and killed several. No cats for us.

There ya go, make 'em work for it so they'll trip that trigger! Little rat bastards.
I've also heard that chickens will kill and eat mice.

Fortunately those little suckers don’t seem to get into my house. The garage is a different story. The wife told me about a month ago that she saw one out there. Set out some traps and I think I’ve gotten about six so far. My wife saw me using peanut butter for bait and told me I should use cheese instead. About three confirmed kills later I asked her if she still thought the peanut butter wouldn’t work. Even she couldn’t argue with the results.
Cat woke me up at 0500 tearing around the bedroom - knew she brought something in. Went in to take a leak and there were two dead bloody mice on the bathroom floor. I let her play with the third one while I got ready for work and then tossed it out. Damn fine cat. Thanks again Sparky!

Well, got 2 more...This time in a live trap, and the good ol tomcat by the freezer vent. I was rummaging in the garage, and noticed a lot of crap by one of the live traps. Poor bastard ate all the peanut butter, hope he enjoyed it.

Wow,
Two thoughts:
1. I sure don't want to hang around his barn.
2. What happens when the temp is below freezing and the water turns to ice?

If you don't have any other animals around, a little anti-freeze in the water works to keep the stink down and keeps it from freezing.
