And they needed propane...at their cell tower. Not sure you can tell how desolate it is here from this 360° shot. But it is. (Eastern WA near Starbuck)

The tower is on top of a ridge. In the center near the left edge a piece of the Snake River is visible. Obviously that's the tower and my truck in the middle.Took me almost 1.5 hrs on a two-track cow path to get to the tower once I left the dirt road. I had 5 bars of service, though!

It was very pretty up there. Kinda wanted to just park the truck and stay a while.

You can't tell from the crappy picture but it's nothing like eastern CO. There are lots of canyons all around where the picture was taken. And the Snake River is stunningly beautiful. That location is about 3000' above the river, believe it or not.

More grass and a little less sage than sw WY, but the tower site looks about the same as the ones I climb for O/G stuff there.

It is fun being out away from anyone...

Used to repair/install stuff on towers, some much taller. Always amazed where they install these things...

This is a perfect time to play this Vintage 30 second Bob Hope classic. I know its probably a repost but it's always worth watching again.

Is Evel Knievel's launch pad still there?

It's lovely. The cell tower actually looks a bit out of place, but it's clearly necessary in an area like that.

Is Evel Knievel's launch pad still there?

No...that was down by Twin Falls, about 400 miles south of here.

Yup, maybe it's one of those "you had to be there" moments.

Yeah...probably.

One of the things we like about such scenery from NV-Wyo and northern AZ is you can see for some distance without looking at a shit load of prairie dog home clusters advertised ...........STARTING FROM THE LOW $3-400k .Loaded with HOA;s and Covenants telling you what color your house can be or size of trash cans.

OR traffic, outside the usual 18 wheeler. NOT sitting in traffic for 10-15 minutes to get through a light on the 2 laners like here.

It looks like Pronghorn country.

Southern ID has a few of them, especially when you're travelling @ 80 mph after sunset.

What in the world were you doing out there?

Nope. Jack rabbits, snakes, fox, coyote, scorpion, lizards

Lots of mule deer.

Funny...On the Idaho side of the Snake the deer are almost all white tails in this area. On the WA side they're all mulies.

Big ass overland expedition. Remember that area quite well, but by “by the tower” I mean right in that area.

Thought Starbuck was a bit fun - didn’t seem like a coffee joint type of town.

^^ "Town" is kind of a stretch...

I worked on one of the wind farms near the Snake River. I liked the area, people mostly. Can't say I really enjoyed the landscape.

Watch for your no legged friends, might want to carry some shot loads just in case.
