Anyone have knowledge on the firmware on getting these DIY kits working. My son bought a TEVO Tarantula 3D printer as a DIY kit for him and I to build, but I'm outta my element. We've got it built but we can't get it to print and I think its because I am missing the firmware for it and do not know how to get it loaded and tested. So much so my boy has lost interest in the project and I would like to get him excited about it again. If it's something you can help me with I would appreciate it, and could work out compensation or trade for help with it please. Thanks and PM me here and I can send you my contact info.

I believe it is if I remember correctly that had to be loaded before you could load the firmware to the printer.

YouTube has a few videos.

Yes, it is. Why it shouldn't be is a different conversation.

A few YT videos that I found that seem useful.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gwWVFtdg-4 - Tedious, but the guy goes into pretty good depth.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCELDLFDz1o - Again, not the most "entertaining" of videos, but good info.

Beyond that, I won't be much use due to my dislike of the Arduino hardware, but if you post questions up, I will share what I know.

Not sure if you've looked yet but there are a ton of YouTube videos about setting these things up and printing with them.

Just like Grant pointed out.

Why it shouldn't be or that fact that it is beyond the limit of my capabilities. I can build you a motor, weld up your fuel tank, but don't ask me what kind of program runs my TIG cause I can't answer that! Thanks for your guys help so far, I've watched those videos, I'll try and sit through them again, but again they are pretty much speaking Greek to me.

That's fair.

I don't know how much help I would be, but after this next round of work travel I'd be happy to give it a shot and see what I can figure out.

I'd appreciate it! I'll keep tooling around with it, can't bare to let him down so I even broke down and read the directions. That helped none at all! I think Ikea has better written instructions than TEVO does.

Check if there is a local maker space near you. If so there should be a 3d printer guru that can help.

Hadn't heard of Makerspace before, had to look it up, pretty damn cool idea. Probably got enough shit in my garage to do that!
