So...did a little searching and was not able to find anyone doing any reloading for the .50 cal. on the forum. I have a good friend of mine who just purchased a Steyr HS-50 with all the reloading equipment. He has enlisted my help getting the reloading set up on his bench and setting up a pet load for the gun. Since I'm the friend who reloads, apparently I'm being nominated to help him load for this beast. Any help from all the folks here who may dabble in this caliber would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again.

Everything related to reloading the 50 is twice as expensive. Press, Dies, ect.

Buy lots of H50BMG in 8lb jugs. Or Vhit 20N29/24N41 if he has the $$$ for it. 20N29 gives me the best accuracy.

Wideners sometimes has surplus AP bullets for cheap plinking.

750-800gn solids (Harlow is best) are really accurate as are Hornady 750 AMAXs.

IMI and Lapua brass is tops.

CCI primers are about the only game in town these days.

All great info. Hoser reloads a LOT more .50 than me, but I've found a few good things here and there.

Pat's Reloading is a great source for pulled bullets for plinking.

I load quite a bit with the 750gr Amax right now, but I have done a little with solids. Harlow seemed to be the most consistent in my shooting, but Lehigh wasn't far off.

I haven't used the Vhita powder that Hoser recommends, but I may give it a try. I do have tons of H50BMG. When I started, I bought some jugs of pulled down powder from Pats as well, and it all worked great.

With the .50, start with loading data and develop for the gun. Don't just blindly follow someone's recipe.
