I was gifted a Mannlicher Schoenauer carbine, model 1903. Overall it's in pretty good shape. But the front sight is out of alignment. Also the screws on the Lyman #36 articulated rear sight are mucked up. If not too expensive, I'd like the checkering redone. Any recommendations for someone in the Boulder to Golden region (or beyond if necessary)?

Very sweet! That front sight is very easy to fix, just tap it to the left with a small plastic or brass mallet until it's centered. You should shoot it first though, it may be like that for a reason.

I know for sure that the rear sight is out of whack so it all needs to be realigned.

A fairly obscure round, 6.5 x 54 MS, that took me a while to track down and no certainty of finding more. At $1 a trigger pull, I don't want to waste money.

I sold 500 rds 4 months ago, factory M-S in box, 140gr JSP.

The problem you will run into, expecially on the recheckering and subsequent refinishing is the cost of labor will quickly outrun the value of the firearm.
The sight work should be pretty straightforward however.

Very nice older sporter, you might contact one of the Colorado gunsmithing schools for the re checkering job. Its not hard to do. Just tedious and they need the right tool.
