Since my father kicked me and my stuff out of his since I'm no longer living there, he game a box that had my old baseball card collection.
Is baseball card collecting still a fad?
I have no sentimental value to the cards other than if they are worth selling to fund another project.

In general, cards older than 1990 are "worth" more than csrds newer than 1990. You almost need cards professionally graded ro sell rhem online and having cards graded is not free.
1986-2000 are usually worthless, unless it is 9.5 to 10.
I sold most of my cards I had around 1998. Even at that time, it was worth far less than 1992 times.
I keep the rest for memories. Jordan, Griffey Jr., etc etc.
Let me say it this way.
The hard acrylic or plastic cases which holds individual baseball cards are probably worth more than carda inside of it. :(

Dale Murphy reverse negative?!?!?
I collected cards for a while and have since given them to my son. He collects, and enjoys it. He was given a bunch by his Orthodontist who saw how much he loves baseball. He keeps a set that he goes through and reads stats and compares to current players, and a set that are worth money. While he has put maybe $100 into it, he has some that are worth a LOT (several in the 100s and a few in the thousands).
You can get a good idea researching on-line. In most collections of 1,000s of cards, there will be a few that have any real value. If they are floating around in a box, most will have damage that reduces their value.

Ahhhhh... 1989 upperdeck. :)
How about Bill Ripken blackbox, whiteout, FFace, and scribble.
Then the 1990 came. It came with lots of FAKE deliberate error cards.

Oh my goodness, years later I did get a couple of the Billy FF Ripken Fleer from ebay, and the guy tossed in a few of the black box. One of the best cards ever. Hahaha.
Can’t imagine how many potentially collectible cards I trashed clipping to my bike/spokes a very loooong time ago[LOL]
