An ISIS-inspired Bangladeshi national set off an homemade explosive device at the Port Authority Bus Terminal subway station Monday morning, law enforcement sources said.

Yet, once again the AP leaves out some specifics

http://www.denverpost.com/2017/12/11/nyc-subway-explosion/

A pipe bomb that was strapped to a man went off in the New York City subway near the Times Square area of Manhattan on Monday, injuring the suspect and another person on the platform at the height of the morning rush hour, law enforcement officials said.

Too bad the perp didn't die in the attempt.

Such inculturation. Very diversity. Much peace.

Maybe he was a Bangladeshi Christian. I keep being told that Christianity is responsible for all the violence in history since its inception, and Islam is a religion of peace. So yeah, we need to see if this theory checks out.

don't worry the FBI is sure to get right on this.
I'm sure their first statement will be something to the affect of "we don't know what the motive was"

Surprisingly, everything I heard about this attack this morning said it was terror related. Even the commie hizzoner said it was a terrorist.

Hope the folks in hell have their coats handy.

That's because pipe bombs are already illegal.

Thankfully it was a failed attempt. The asshole didn't even get the chance to martyr himself. The people of NYC are damn lucky he wasn't a more competent bomb builder. This could have been much worse.

For the record- I am somewhat surprised he's from Bangladesh. Despite it being a majority muslim country, it's not really in the top 25 for being a hotbed of jihadists. I have heard from people who have been there post-9/11 that they, for the most part, do harbor some anti-US sentiment.

Law enforcement sources have also told the AP that the suspect, Akayed Ullah, arrived from Bangladesh with a visa seven years ago, and that he was living in Brooklyn.

The officials said that he was inspired by the terror group Isis but had no contact with its members, and that he is speaking with investigators at the hospital. Adam Gabbatt is at one of the Brooklyn addresses associated with Ullah.

I once heard a piece that made the argument any kind of violence that happens in a public place is technically "workplace violence" because inevitably, someone works there. I agree. Not in the sense of downplaying motives, but in the sense of maybe that is a dumb label.

Buck Sexton or Bernie Kuerik (Keurig?) just interviewed on Fox Business says this guy was here as part of chain migration. IOW, brought here years ago as a relative of another immigrant.

Fox News just confirmed that through DHS. He came here in 2011 on an F43 Visa which is a preferential visa for people who's family are US Citizens. It also says he was a licensed cab driver from 2012-2015, but didn't work for any cab companies or Uber/Lyft.

I thought majority of Bangladesh was budduist, until I checked wiki:

Religion
90% Islam
9.5% Hinduism
0.3% Buddhism
0.2% Christianity

Slightly OT , but in the same vein Corcoran state pen in CA has a multi-million dollar dialysis facility for 1 (yes 1) convict doing life.

I’m told that is reason enough not to move the embassy to Jerusalem - because maybe Christians (or Jews) are the ones who are going to revolt. Yep...
