Wow, all the tinfoil hats on this site and nobody's talked about this bombshell?
Navy pilot recalls encounter with UFO: 'I think it was not from this world' (https://www.yahoo.com/gma/navy-pilot-recalls-encounter-ufo-think-not-world-160503613--abc-news-topstories.html)
Not some drunken redneck in a field in Arkansas talking about getting an anal probe, but an experienced Navy fighter pilot - with camera footage to back him up.
The resident alien guy is laying low right now.

I just read that. Sounds like he got heckled quite a bit by the crew on his ship

Possibly some kind of secret or experimental aircraft flying out of Groom Lake, NV?
Could be. After all, the whole UFO hysteria started in 1947 with the Roswell incident which turned out to be pretty much exactly that - a secret US government program.
It was called Project Mogul and the purpose was to try and detect airborne radiation that would have indicated a Soviet nuclear test - in the days before satellites ringed the planet that was the only way to know if someone had detonated an A-bomb.

One day we will all know for sure. Too many cameras out there and someone will get the proof.

Cue the "I'm not saying it was aliens" meme in 5, 4, 3, 2....
I think the idea of us being the only sentient race in the universe is infinitely more terrifying than the thought that there are other species out there.

I'm more afraid of multiple other worlds that are full of populations and masses as dumb as ours. The universe doesn't need that.

Why is that?
Why is that?
It makes us a fluke, an accident. And it makes it much more likely that we would be unable to find another habitable world to explore and colonize.

I think the idea of us being the only sentient race in the universe is infinitely more terrifying than the thought that there are other species out there.
1. You presume the human race can be called sentient. I would argue recent political history and sociological trends call that into question.
2. There may have been or may be in the future other sentient races but we could potentially be the only one around this galactic cluster at this time.
3. Other races may well exist and decided to post the Earth as off limits due to volatility or stupidity of its native species. I can readily imagine not wanting to associate with the psychopathic/sociopathic creatures known as humans if I had faster-than-light travel and all the technological benefits that would likely accompany it. Just wait for us to kill ourselves off then make contact with the cetaceans (if any are left). [Coffee]
I thought the first seven words of the Bible touched on that.
...and then there's Genesis 1:14-19
14 Then God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years; 15 and let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so. 16 God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also. 17 God placed them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, 18 and to govern the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness; and God saw that it was good. 19 There was evening and there was morning, a fourth day.
Everything in this world moves toward entropy. Our place in the solar system is unique and gives a good perspective of the whole of it. What we have here on earth is too perfect to be random. If we evolved to this, where are the intermediate examples?

Well this is awkward

That article has trouble differentiating between "many" and "maybe."
The Bible doesn't talk about God creating the cosmos.
Um, what? Genesis 1:1...
http://biblehub.com/interlinear/genesis/1.htm
Notice the Hebrew. Shamayim. -im = plural, so "In the beginning God created the heavens...". This would be space (outer, close to earth, and the air). Then further down in verse 14 and 15, details the creation of the stars, planets, etc.
What's really interesting about Genesis is how St. John uses its literary theme and sequencing to begin the Gospel account he wrote. This video goes into that aspect and then builds from there...

But I digress.
Now about those UFOs... I've heard a few accounts on Coast to Coast AM and other such programs where people during abductions perceived their presence as utterly evil, and when they evoked the name of Jesus the experience ceased immediately. Interesting.
Just like Kanye's album sales!

where are the intermediate examples?
All of the intermediate examples available to subscribe to are theoretical at best, be it science, faith, or otherwise. With science a bit ahead of the game I figure. There isn't anything perfect about our situation, and I'd wager it's blind luck that this "little piece of heaven" has been habitable for as long as it has. All of this glorious eden could end next week with 1 ten mile rock we didn't see coming.
Both the first and second definition of the word you used, imply degradation and collapse. There isn't anything random about our eventual demise either, it's coming.
If we evolved to this, where are the intermediate examples?

I think it's all a big miracle...
And I didn't want to see this whole thing get into a faith debate, but here we are

Yes, to be destroyed by fire. That's also in the book.

You watch, he'll remember he sneezed before he put his oxygen mask on and the tic-tac he was sucking on shot out and stuck to his windscreen.
OTOH.
God is omnipotent and I'm certain there are other forms of intelligent life in the universe, I just can't prove they exist. Why would God concentrate his vast imagination and power upon Earth and its human population.
I bet there are a dozen other civilizations out there, maybe even in a sort of galactic council!
There can be a warrior race of bird-like bipeds, a scientific and espionage race resembling salamanders, a stoic, thoughtful race that can live for a thousand years or more, to give everyone deeper thought into the past and the future. And maybe even a dinosaur-like race who live for brutality and waging war, even amongst themselves...

Angelic beings are intelligent, though immaterial (meaning, they do not have bodies). This meets the onus for your belief of other intelligent forms of life, unless you specifically mean biological life.

All I know is, if I were a 1960s Joe American looking up and seeing/hearing a SR-71, the simplest explanation would be aliens. Thinking about the pace of things, I assume the .gov is ~20 years ahead of what is disclosed to the public.
That doesn't mean there wouldn't be fictitious "disclosures" to deceive the public. .gov is our betters and they are allowed to deceive and lie with impunity. Says so right in the Constitution.

I think the idea of us being the only sentient race in the universe is infinitely more terrifying than the thought that there are other species out there.
I've always thought it particularly arrogant (typical for our species) to believe that we are the only sentient (yes, our sentience is debatable) life in our universe. Our universe is bast beynd nd comprehension. The likelyhood that there is intelligent life on other planets, in other galaxies, is logical.

Exactly where my thoughts always lead.

I specifically mean biological life.
I haven't decided yet if I believe in angels or not, I'm inclined not to.

I just read that. Sounds like he got heckled quite a bit by the crew on his shipSounds like it but I read the jets were called in because a Navy ship was actually tracking the UFO...or vise versa. The radio call even asked if the jet was armed.
UFO went from 80,000ft to sea level. Then showed up 40 miles away a minute later.
Mutliple people both in the air and on ships all saw that thing.
Crazy.
I've noticed more and more mainstream media stories about UFO type stuff over the last year or so. Now this big story with video. Wonder if we're being "prepped" for something...?

This is a possibility. Or they could just be at a point, technologically, where we are- unable to really leave their celestial system. Or worse- they know about us, and are avoiding us on purpose- due to how we are currently.
Everything in this world moves toward entropy. Our place in the solar system is unique and gives a good perspective of the whole of it. What we have here on earth is too perfect to be random. If we evolved to this, where are the intermediate examples?
Have you seen the left? Clearly they aren't fully evolved yet...
