The guy in Aurora who puts amazon packages on his porch, designed for being stolen, and containing soiled diapers from his child........was successfully stolen today.

AWESOME !!!!!!

There's some Win going on there.

I was going to whine about how many boxes I have from Amazon and how come they don't have a box recycling program and blah blah whine whine. BUT, this seems like a better use for empty boxes. Well except I don't want to attract package thives to my neighborhood by leaving packages out on my porch.

I hope his decoy package sat in the sun for a few days first too!

Excellent. I hope he cuts his hand off trying to open it.

You know what is double stupid? If they thief does get hurt opening the box, he can probably sue and win in court. Our jacked up court system...

Get Amazon box and fill with that crumpled paper, packing peanuts, whatever.

Sprinkle a bit of this stuff inside (like 1/4 jar). Mix with paper thorougly. Wear gloves. Leave on porch.
https://www.amazon.com/Shomer-Tec-Special-Ingredients-Purple-Powder/dp/B00ABV7U3I

During unpacking the box, a metallic green dust will inevitably get everywhere, it is very difficult to detect a light dusting.

When that tiny little speck of dust hits moisture. It dies EVERYTHING bright purple. This shit is the devil. It does not come out easily. I talked an acquaintance of mine into rubbing some on his hands, then washing them. He spent a while in the garage trying to wash his hands with gasoline and brake cleaner to no avail. Imagine a thief unboxing this in their car or living room, tossing paper around only to find nothing and later sweat on the seat, spill a drink, shampoo the carpet, or even wash their clothes.

I know this is not our typical genre, but this illustrates the spread of this stuff...

Someone, I thought from here, was just telling me about doing an experiment with their kids with something similar to this. Said it got every where and no where in the instructions did it warn that this would happen.

When I ordered it, it didn't come with instructions. It was a little 1oz or so jar inside a Ziploc, packed in a box. I have no doubt that letting kids near it would be a terrible experience. It leaves a almost waxy purple finish on metals, cloth is a problem.
We don't even keep it in the house. It is in a place where my buddy's kids don't frequent.

This person's experience was in some kind of science experiment directed at kids where you make an expanding foam. Sounds like a cruel prank directly from a company to me. Ha!

Sorry, but I think it should be legal to kill porch pirates. Either shoot them or bait them with booby trapped packages. People that do that shit are some of the lowest life forms on the planet and we don't need them anymore.

Bravo!

Either last year or two years ago this time of year, we had two boxes stolen which had Christmas gifts for our kids. The thieves opened them in their car, dumped the contents, and tossed the boxes out while still in the neighborhood.

Since we own three dogs... I think I know what I can fill a box with and leave for the next scum-of-the earth.

My brother and I were recently discussing how one would make a device that could be surrounded by fecal matter (dog, cat, some other smelly animal) that would detonate with enough force to distribute the feces but not enough to do harm (so as to avoid crossing the line of the law) once it lost a blutooth or wifi connection. That way you connect it electronically to your network and then once its driven out of range it goes off. We decided that the electronics involved would be too valuable to allow to be stolen so maybe some other method would work better.

But yeah, "how to deal with thieves" is the only thing the arab/islamic world has right.

I know post inspection services uses dye packs.
That would be really nice if we can use dye pack on bait package.

Yeah, but baiting is illegal in Colorado. You can bait other types of people like the milk man or postman as long as you're not baiting the thing you're hunting.

My first thought when I saw the original report when he left the first package on the porch.

Fecal matter is all fun and games but if a guy could rig something up to pop a little vial of mercaptan in the perpetrators vehicle that would be awesome.

I had a friend in the 70's that had some glass vials he got in some magic/gag shop that had a vile liquid in them that stunk like a TON of shit! Smash one on the floor in a crowded room and it would clear the place instantly. Must be the same stuff. That WOULD be perfect in a bait package!

I think in a broad scope...the average chickensheet that would steal from your porch when he/she thinks nobody is home, wouldn't have the fortitude to come back to retaliate if it were a simple box of fecal material wrapped in individual bags. On the other hand, some of the other VERY creative ideas could possibly lead to a more aggressive shitebag returning to "square up".

Of course, this scenario would have to be assuming that said shitebag only stole 1 package at that time and opened immediately in order to know where it came from. Two or three houses before you open your stolen stuff, most likely wont know which one distributed your most deserved unpleasant surprise.

I suppose the Play Stupid Games rule comes into the equation, VS. statistical probability of retaliation. It's all numbers at that point.

(meaning the criminal perspective of playing stupid games)
