Good morning all!
I'm in need of a machinist in the Denver area. I recently moved business down to Broomfield this past summer. I had a machine shop 50 yards from my old place, but just not worth driving back up that way. I have talked to a few machine shops in Broomfield and just wanted to reach out to the board members here. Overall this is a good group of folks. Mods, I put this in General discussion hoping for more traffic, please move if needed.
Ok, so what we have.....
I am currently in the process of restoring a run of Miller race cars. Millers were prominent in the 20's in the board track and Indy scene. I am looking right now at doing a run of 5 different cars. All slightly different and all historical figures. Most of the cars are being fabricated from the ground up off original blueprints. There were very few cars ever made and most didn't survive the years of racing. We are hand making bodies, frames, fuel cells. etc. All pieces that were cast are being re-patterned and cast. This is where I am in need of a competent Machinist, to machine the new casting. There will be a lot of onesie-twosie parts!!! No big runs of anything.
Let me know if you are interested or might have a contact. The closer to Broomfield the better!

This was project #1 we are getting ready to finish up. This car, a 1926 Miller 91, was driven by Ray Keech to win the 1929 Indy 500. This car is completely remade. There are a few engine bits of the original car. It will be certified as the '29 winner. The car was wreaked 2 weeks after the 500, killing Ray Keech and completely destroying the car.

The car was invited to the Indy 500 in May to be on display in the infield for the historic.

I just got started in the last week few weeks on the next car. This will be be an early Miller 122 owned by Harry Hartz. They called it the Greatest 122. We have the actual engine for this car!

And this is where the machining comes into play. Fresh cast engine cradle and x-member. (yes, I put the swag in...[AR15])

Here is an example of an original blueprint for the car. These are for the rear spring hangers. Pretty cool shit!
