according to the scanner 3 deputies and 2 civilians were hit, and swat eliminated the threat just a little while ago. it was at a apt. complex in the 3400 block of east County Line Rd. the initial call from the officers on scene woke me up from a dead sleep.
Non critical injuries according to news
mods may delete these if they feel they are inappropriate but here are a couple of the calls from the scene, they are spine chilling eye openers thats for sure.

was a dv call, then all hell broke loose and then they switched to a different channel I believe because the suspect was listening to the radio of the downed officer inside the apt and it was tipping him off to their movements. sent you a pm gunner

Domestic dispute.
I’ve heard more info, but all I’m going to say is that not all of the injuries are non-critical. Prayers going out for all those that were shot and their families.
Just saw that I was driving out to the airport this morning and had to get on at Quebec and coming home 470 was back open.

Apparently domestic abuse calls have been used to lure polices, so could be BLM or ANTIFA maybe. The perp is obviously only out for polices, otherwise there would be a lot more dead by now.

I fear incidents like this will one day drive the LEOs to stop supporting 2A and agree to confiscate guns.

How in the hell did you jump to that? Did you see the post above yours? Yes domestic calls were/are some of the most dangerous for responders. I know guys on this call-sorry if I’m coming off harsh but no one needs to be spreading speculation on this horrific morning. I’m out.
Let’s keep this on track and run with details not tin foil Therories

there was a point in the call where one of the downed officers had his mike keyed and dispatch reported they could hear the suspect reloading, then multiple shots rang out, i did not feel comfortable posting that clip. take my word for it its real, it put goosebumps on my arms.

The first thing I saw when I got online this morning was the headline "7 shot, 1 deputy killed in Douglas County, CO."
I'm fairly certain that we have DCSO deputies as members of this board. If any of you know them personally, please reach out to them to verify their safety.
This was a dark and horrendous event. We need to come together as the family community that we are and see if there is anything we can do to help those effected, particularly if any of our members were effected.
In the mean time, I encourage any of you who are spiritual to pray for all involved.
ETA: For those of you who are not LEO-friendly on this board, please note that due to the seriousness and how this has hit so close to home for us that the staff's level of tolerance for any non-supportive posts here will be non-existant and such posts will be met with extreme and swift action.

My feelings exactly. Prayers go out to those folks. I've never had contact with anyone in DCSO that wasn't completely professional. Wouldn't surprise me if most of those officers weren't out of the DCSO substation down the street.

Earlier in the day, Heavy stated a dishonorable discharge per Kyle Clark but when I clicked on the link to the Clark Tweet it clearly said honorable.
In the same video it sounded like his beef was because he got caught in a Vice sting after he tried to order a prostitute.

I wasn't implying anything negative of other postings. Just a passing thought as (again) our family was there a few back. Leaving 2 kids and our sister in law. Kind of leave a gap that takes a while to start healing. The fallen deputy wasn't even 30, horrible way to go.

There is a lot of info that cannot be released nor will I. This was clearly an ambush based on the evidence that is being picked up but not yet released. The subject had an extreme disregard for the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. From watching his demeanor and actions in his videos he had some clear issues.

Prayers for the Deputy and his family. When I was working homicide I was called out to cover one at Red Rocks. An off duty Denver Officer was working the concert and rolled his car trying to get there and was killed. It was all over the news and he had the same name as me.
Friends, family and our priest showed up at our house to offer condolences to my wife. When I finally got home the next day my wife was a basket case and had stayed up all night waiting for a call or seeing a rep from the Dept. She was still inconsolable for a long time after I finally got home.
That incident drove home to me the affect on families.

So, so tragic for the family, and families of the other deputies. :(
Godspeed, Deputy Parrish.
It's always sad and tragic to lose a brother. While I didn't know Deputy Parrish, I know a few deputies with DCSO, and from everything I've been hearing he was a great guy, wonderful husband and father, and a deputy of the most outstanding kind, friendly, loving, respectful and of the highest moral character. My heart breaks for his wife, daughters, family, and the entirety of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. While any loss of a LEO is tragic, this one is painful being that he was so young, at 29. He really shows what most police are, great people who wake up every day to do their part to help others. Colorado has lost a true hero and wonderful soul. I pray for everyone affected by this, and am deeply saddened we have to shroud our badges once more. [Salute]

I couldn't believe the widow got up and spoke. That's generally rare at these events. It was absolutely heart breaking.
And when Jaimie Jursevics had her funeral at Church of The Nazarene in Englewood, a passerby yelled, "Just a fucking pig" as they drove by, while her remains were being loaded in front of her entire family.

I guess if you're a criminal you're really not gonna have a lot of nice things to say about law enforcement.

Oh wow! You guys are good detectives... She's nuts. Was she tweeting from jail?
There's a directory of sites related to Deb Frisch here; Deb Frisch Containment Project (http://debfrisch.com/)
She's a total loon.

On April 26, 2017 – after having been arrested for violating the Colorado protection order in November 2016 and extradited from California to Weld County, Colorado – Frisch was sentenced in a plea deal wherein she pled guilty to felony stalking and harassment. She requested to be returned to California to live with her parents, adding an additional 45 days to her jail time to allow the interstate compact to take effect. Jail time for the November 16 incident totaled 7 1/2 months. She was sentenced to 10 years' probation; a prohibition from posting online about private citizens (this includes all social media platforms); supervised Internet access and potential state review of her computer and phone; mandatory courses in victim empathy and moral decision making; and state supervision over compliance with prescribed medications for bi-polar disorder. On behalf of the victims, Jeff Goldstein read a prepared statement to the court before sentencing. Frisch's free speech defense was dismissed as immaterial once she pled guilty to a felony in exchange for dismissal of four other felonies, including threatening a judge.[citation needed (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)] After a fallout with her parents, Frisch was required to return to Colorado under the conditions of the interstate pact. Once back in Colorado, Frisch incurred new felony charges, including threatening and harassing her former parole officer and her family.
On November 16, 2017, Ms Frisch, who was acting as her own counsel, failed to appear at a revocation of probation hearing in Weld County, CO, in re: the Goldstein case, and began hiding out in San Diego County, California and later Oregon. A nationwide warrant, along with a number of local warrants, was issued out of Colorado. Since her initial sentencing in April 2017, Frisch had been charged with several new felonies. After firing two attorneys, Frisch, in an October 6, 2017 hearing, asked for and was granted by Judge Shannon Lyons both the right to represent herself and a travel waiver to return to California to see her own doctors and opthamologist. While in California on release, Ms Frisch escalated her online and telephonic harassment of several of the victims in her Colorado cases, including a number of law enforcement officials and their families. Frisch is facing multiple new felony and misdemeanor charges in Colorado.

Douglas County SO put together a video timeline with some body camera footage. Man, tough. Lots of lead flying. Sounds like Deputy Parish went down inside the apartment and wasn't rescued until about 90 minutes later when they were able to get a rescue team together. The female deputy went out a window. Other two deputies both took rounds but were able to get clear.
Edit: somehow I missed the link was posted above.
From what I have gathered at least two deputies entered the Apartment on a mental health call. At some point after entering, and it does not appear as though they forced entry inside, the unnamed dirtbag produced a rifle that had been modified to full auto, or to simulate full auto, and began to shoot at the officers. I am curious if this horrible event will change SOP’s for LE in handling Mental Health calls.

From KDVR:
Deputies returned to the apartment after 5 a.m. with the goal of placing Riehl in what's called a mental health hold.
Body camera video shows the deputies moving away clutter from a hallway leading to Riehl’s bedroom.
“They have a little bit more concern at this point," Adsit said as he watched the video moments before footage showed shots being fired. "There’s a shield that they’ve brought in.”
Riehl began shooting from inside his bedroom -- behind a closed door -- catching deputies off-guard.
Parrish was hit instantly and could be seen falling to the ground while his fellow deputies -- Mike Doyle, Jeff Pelle and Taylor Davis -- retreated.
Once realizing Parrish was down, the other three deputies -- who also had been hit by gunfire -- went back into the apartment. Doyle attempted to aid Parrish.
“What an amazing hero," Adsit said. "[Doyle] did what all of us would hope to do in a situation like that."
Riehl, though, continued firing, forcing the other three deputies to get out of the apartment. Once outside, Doyle, wounded himself, tended to Pelle.
The videos also show SWAT officers' response to the scene standing guard outside the apartment complex before Riehl was killed.
Curious where you heard that it was modified to be full auto or simulate full auto.
Just what it sounded like from the audio I heard.

Looked at the photos today. There was no bump stock mounted, and the safety on the weapon did not look like the proprietary safeties that come with the Franklin or Fostech binaries. In fact, it appears to have a 45° selector, which isnt compatible with either, as far as I know.

The man who killed a Douglas County sheriff’s deputy on New Year’s Eve and wounded four others had 15 guns inside his apartment and all were acquired legally, according to the sheriff.
Of those 15 guns, 11 were in working condition, Douglas County Sheriff Tony Spurlock said.
Matthew Riehl fired four of them -- an M-16, an M-4, a shotgun and a handgun. The guns are still being examined, but from visual evidence, none appeared to be fully automatic, Spurlock said.

Then there isn't an M16
Another report said 3 guns used. Very similar to the above list, but the shotgun is a Benelli M4 (rather than a shotgun AND a M4). However, they say the handgun is a Glock, when it clearly is not.

That was my first thought. And there isn't an M4 either. Basically he had 2 AR-15 type rifles.
ETA: Seeing as the source is CBS, they're basically useless when it comes to reporting accurate information pertaining to firearms. Bunch of dolts. All it would take is talking to anyone in the know and saying "Hey, tell us what kind of guns these are, so we don't end up looking like massive idiots."

Everyone knows every pistol used in a crime is a Glock with a hi-capacity clip and every rifle is either an automatic AR or AK with a banana clip.

Anyone see the dougco official release? It looked to me like one of the deputies responding to the later call stated they needed to in essence "get him" and that they would have to back off to make plans for doing so while they were standing near the entrance to the apartment. I wonder if the assailant overheard that and started making plans himself... May or may not have happened that way.
I heard that too. It's certainly possible the bad guy heard that. Sounds like he piled stuff in the hallway inside too which does indicate he had some time to get "ready" for them.

The pic is too blurry for me to make an absolute call on this, but given that the end cap of the guide rod is sticking out about 1/16" from the frame my guess is that it's a Springfield XD of some sort.

Here's a bit more body camera footage showing the officers inside. It shows them trying the enter the bedroom, the initial shots, them going back to try to get Parish, and the cam of the officer that went out the window.

Not to be pedantic, but there are Colt and other manufacturers that have produced semi auto only AR type rifles marked M4, M16 etc. Not saying that’s what he had and used just putting out info.

AR-15, 45, and shotgun were used. While the fire from the AR is clear and fast, it is not auto.

In the video at the link posted by 00tec you can see two ARs, one with carry handle + fixed rifle stock, and another that looks like your typical ar-15.

What on Gods green earth does Springfields marketing have anything to do with any of this. Insert any name of any manufacturer. I am a little surprised when the sheriff said in the interview that his people were not ready for someone who is known to be armed could fire on them like that.
I was trying to make a crack at how silly I thought the "GRIP ZONE" on the grip was, without derailing the thread. Since I didn't provide any context to my comment, it was probably taken the wrong way.
