Kentucky school shooting suspect did not target victims-local prosecutor (https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/kentucky-school-shooting-suspect-did-not-target-victims-local-prosecutor/ar-BBIhDD8)
The teenaged boy who opened fire in a Kentucky high school this week, killing two students and wounding many others, appeared not to have targeted his victims and shot at random, a local prosecutor said on Friday.
Three security cameras captured the Tuesday morning incident in Marshall County High School's common area, Commonwealth's Attorney Mark Blankenship told Reuters in an email on Friday.
"The video clearly shows what happened," Blankenship said. "We have no information to indicate that he had any particular target in mind."
The "bullying as trigger for school shooting" trope is widespread, but in every case that I can think of, completely wrong.
Probably just another entitled, psychotic narcissist who couldn't deal with the world failing to recognize his "brilliance."
We have no idea of the motive. Let's see how the facts of this case come out during the investigation.
No, we don't. But in having spent more time looking at these events than is really healthy, I'd be willing to bet money that he was an entitled narcissistic asshole. The Dark Triad shows up in pretty much every one of these events.

The suspect was the local reporters son.

There's no good way to find out your child is a victim or the suspect, but I imagine at the scene while working to report on the shooting is a especially shit way.
That article slightly mentioned the reporter mom while quickly moving to discuss legislative efforts to prevent these events. Should have been discussed in a separate article.
Reporter or not, if I heard there was a shooting at the school my children attended I think doing my job would be my least priority.
I thought it was interesting that the article suggested that she was rushing to the scene for coverage. It's not like she didn't know which school her kid attended. However, I suppose if she piled out of a van with a camera running behind her, then that story tells itself.
In the part of my brain that has thoughts that shouldn't be said out loud, I wonder if she was doing the shitty reporter thing like at Columbine where reporters run around asking terrified parents things like, "Your own child could be laying inside the school right now, how does that make you feel?" when she found out.
In the article I linked above it mentioned;
The parents of the suspect as well as the parents of the two victims who were fatally shot attended a closed detention hearing on Wednesday, said Blankenship, who observed the proceeding.
"They seemed to be suffering as bad as the parents of the victims," Blankenship said. The judge ordered participants not to discuss details of the hearing, Blankenship added.
Everybody loses in these types of events. As I stated in the other thread, I won't be at all shocked if there were warning signs that went unheeded. Our society prefers to avoid stigmatizing individuals instead of taking rational action to protect the society.

I subbed at a school for a month or two, and there was this one boy about 16 who was creepy at hell. Very quick temper which could go from happy to violent in two seconds, and he would lie as smooth as butter. He'd be talking with a peer who would say something and this kid would then exclaim "omg I'm going to shoot everyone here!". For that, I legally had to tell administration, who then only had a talk with him.
One day after subbing this class, these two girls pulled me aside and told me that he seriously scared them, because he was always saying racist things and such.
Now, having been around thousands of kids, this type of behavior is present in so many of them to varying degrees- they're just kids after all. But that one boy honestly creeped me the f out. But, because he hasn't actually done anything besides creep people out or say things off the cuff, the school really can't do anything about it. His parents would be the ones to do something, and it's not like they in particular don't have the money to do so, but they're just not there as invested parents to even realize let alone admit that their kid may have issues. From my admittedly limited experience, it seems that the schools' hands really are tied basically until the point that law enforcement has to get involved.

Cluster-B and suspected is the rare and only case where suddenly I care less for human rights. And yeah - that is exactly how some of them present. Some of them are quite dangerous/violent at times; most others are only manipulative/con artists. They are responsible for a huuuuuge % of all crime.
I wish we had institutionalization still and they are quite diagnosable under an FMRI (no psychiatrist speculation needed) - and they are incurable due to aformentioned prefrontal cortex defects that current medical tech can't - and probably wont ever - be able to fix. The vast ills and danger this 1-2% of soulless people cause upon society provide my sole exception to the well respected rights we all should enjoy.
Oddly enough ^^ Like^^

That's your opinion. I can totally understand how bullying would drive someone to this sort of action. Especially the way schools won't do anything about bullying until the time comes to punish both the bully and the victim.

So the shooter was raised by a single mother who is a member of the left's "priestly class"; an MSM "journalist" ... And he's likely suffering from some sort of psychological disorder ($10 says so is mom).
Further illustrating the link between the left, mental illness and mass murder.
Suspect in Kentucky school shooting identified as the 15-year-old son of a newspaper editor (http://www.nydailynews.com/news/crime/suspect-ky-school-shooting-identified-journalist-son-article-1.3782243)
Parker was described by friends, classmates and neighbors as a quiet boy who played the trombone and was close to his grandmother.
Ashley Collie, a sophomore who was in Parker’s math class two years ago, told the Courier Journal he seemed “like a really good kid” who kept to himself.

You should change your location tag to say: The Right Pole.

Yes, the correct pole.

It's my opinion based on having spent a lot of time looking at the background of various mass shooters. I'm hard pressed to think of a single example where the underlying cause actually was bullying. That was a myth that started with Columbine, and has steadfastly refused to go away ever since.
Like I said, I'd be willing to bet money that this kid wasn't bullied, and has probably exhibited Cluster-B/Dark Triad-type behavior for years. His mother being a reporter would certainly seem to be at least a reasonable indicator that narcissism runs in the family (at least based on my experience having done time working in media...)
Are a reporter and a newspaper editor in the same ballpark?
I keep seeing the shooter's mother being described as a "reporter". Based on the information so far, the shooter's mother is a newspaper editor, which also happens to be the career of the shooter's father.

I got the idea that the mother was an editor from the title of the article you posted. I read the article and this is what it says:
The suspect in a Kentucky school shooting that left two teenagers dead has been identified as Gabe Parker, the son of an online newspaper editor.
So that doesn't really specify which parent is the editor. It really doesn't matter at all though.
From the various articles I've read so far, the shooter's parents divorced when he was 5. Both the father and mother were newspaper editors. Apparently the father slapped his second wife during an argument and pled guilty to 4th degree assault. Wife #2 divorced him.
Can't we just blame the gun?

Can't we just blame the gun?
Some will. Fricken evil guns, always making people do bad things. There ought to be a law.
Seems easier than finding the real cause of the shooting. And it gets us one step closer to a communist utopia by sneaky moves and then by force when we are all unarmed. I think the world is ready for the force part with the USA being the last hold out.
