Pretty brazen misuse of public resources if you ask me...

Chicken Little Leftists masquerading as neocons do the dirty dumb?

"We failed to do with millions what previous generations did with far less, even accounting for inflation. Please give us more money to keep failing!"

Yeah . . . we got the robocalls on our cells last night. I was not happy about that. There was a follow-up email sent apologizing.

Dear Douglas County Community,

You may have a received a phone message this evening regarding the fact that our board is considering pursuing additional funding from voters.

The message was sent via the wrong communications channel. It was sent via our emergency system instead of via the regular system. This was 100% human error on our part. The Communications Office takes full responsibility for this mistake -- this was not done by our Board of Education.

We understand that the emergency notification system is only for use in emergency situations and sincerely apologize for any concern we may have caused.

We hope this doesn't overshadow the important message from our Board President David Ray. We will follow up with an email version of the message.

As a parent, I understand how frightening it can be to receive an emergency message and how upsetting it is to find out that was send in error. We will make adjustments to our system to ensure this does not happen again.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at srrader@dcsdk12.org.

Sincerely,

Stacy Rader
Communications Officer

Well at least it wasn't a missile warning, I guess.

Sure didn't take the newly-elected lib board long to look for more money. I'm sure it wouldn't be targeted to raising teacher salaries and not really so much for other things . . . right??? It's all about the kids, after all.

It's all about the kids, after all.Same thing that happened after the JeffCo recall. The board had a solid, approved plan to build another school or two, debt free with no tax increase. They got recalled and then the new liberal board immediately tried to get two tax measures passed to get more money. When they failed, they started looking at closing 5 schools and completely eliminating learning, literacy, gifted student specialists because they needed to cut $20M from the budget to cover teacher pay.

One school has already been closed and more will follow in the next couple years.

Teachers will get better pay and our kids will get a worse education because they'll be packed like sardines in the classroom.

It's maddening.

I have no problem paying teachers top dollar for the metro area, as long as tenure and seniority is eliminated and merit based pay scales are used. Pay more for STEM vs PE and lib arts.

I follow the Highlands Ranch Speakeasy on Facebook. It should be renamed the Highlands Ranch Liberals, but I digress. They all supported the new slate and want the Mill Levy Override to pass to get more money. They supported to reinstate funding to the teachers union and will include them in future contract negotiations. Pretty much everything undone by the more conservative board was changed.

A union should exist in oppositional balance to an entity, not be the entity. The former is proper per papal encyclicals. The latter is Marxism.

I'm guessing the board members are wanting a raise for all their hard work.....

I'd be pissed to get that message on the emergency line. What a disgraceful move.

Yhea I can see the board now: "We'll send this out as an emergency and then retract it. That will get the message out AND save face!"

You guys are silly. You know its gonna pass. Just like the 1/3 to 1% road tax that"s in the works. Welcome to Taxorado. I noticed last two elections nearly all the taxes got passed. A couple cities have over 10% sales tax, Netherland might be 11%. At my kids school they are trying to raise money to redo the Gym floor. Looks fine to me and its only 5 years old. School love spending OPM.

We had a whole thread on the DC School Board debacle in the Politics forum.

It will be interesting to see if the folks who didn't vote against the Lib board members will find some time to vote against the tax increases. Plural because we know it won't be just one attempt at raising taxes.

DC already has some of the highest tax rates in the Denver metro area. I hear complaints from a lot of people in the Ranch who feel they are being "priced out" of the community thanks to cost of living.

I follow the Highlands Ranch Speakeasy on Facebook. It should be renamed the Highlands Ranch Liberals, but I digress. Those Conservatives were so embarrassing though. Did you see all the Chalkbeat "reporting" on the news? Shameful, just shameful.

Libs know how to educate... Top spender on education in the developed world, #37/40 ranking. Yup.
