View Full Version : Staples refuses firearms business check.
I just had Staples refuse my business check because it's a firearms related business. They then accepted my business credit card. Same business.
Last penny they'll ever get from me.
I thought "operation choke-point" was history?
Just don't try to refuse to bake a cake though! The horror!

They read your business name and said "no"?

uline.com is pretty comprehensive with business supplies. There are other companies like Office Depot. I never did like Staples much.
Perhaps it was just the individual "holier than thou" cashier? Or is it stated store policy?

Maybe they can add 'checks' to this sign?

I think Staples might be connected to Office Dept. As mentioned, U-Line, and also Quill will take your money, with the added benefit of a Net30 credit account to build your business' credit score. U-Line and Quill are some of the very few places that report to the business credit score bureaus.
The cashier tried to put it through a couple of times, then he call corporate to see what the issue was. He got kind of embarassed, hung up the phone, looked at me and said, "uh, I'm just a simple peon here...it seems to be that yours is a firearms related business". He was really apologetic about it.
Office Depot has never been a problem. They're associated with another popular office supply, but it's not Staples.
If mrpibb doesn't want my business, I will drink drpepper.
If staples doesnt like gun business, I will go to office depot/max.
Didn't Bain cap use to own shares of Staples?

Wow. Is that actually a payment policy of theirs? That's why the check processing was flagged? I'd be letting the firearm world know right now - dont' shop at Staples, they don't want your money.

maybe not isolated... found this (not a check, but could indicated an overall leftist policy):

It’s not just an operation, it’s the mindset of a large part of the corporate elites and popular opinion.
Shoulda left all your items there and walked away with a hearty Hi-Ho Fuck You!

APEX Gun Parts uses Staples for some office supplies.
Here in Colorado Springs we can call ahead and they will have the product ready for pick-up, sometimes we have it delivered.
We also use U-Line, COSTCO, SAM's, Colorado Industrial Packaging and Lowes.
No one seems to care that the credit cards are marked "Apex Gun Parts" or that we all wear gear marked with the company name.
About the only place I DO NOT wear APEX marked shirts, hats or sweat shirts is when I fly!

It's been several years, so... But I always shopped for office stuff at Staples in Conifer for Bailey Guns. "Bailey Guns" printed on the check, had a rewards card under the Bailey Guns name and a Staples card. The guy that managed the store took a carry class from me and we often talked guns and such when I went in there. Wasn't a problem between 1999 and 2008...like I said, it's been a while. Things change.
" I really doubt office depot/staples is running checks against their own database of gun owners."
They didn't identify me as a gun owner. They identified the business name on the check as "Alpha2Firearms, LTD." It's also on my credit card, but after my name. That they accepted. I'm just saying, they won't have that opportunity again.

Can you clarify if it was a machine rejection (running check through reader) or a SJW clerk rejection (looking at check and saying GUNS) it sounds like the latter now?
In the former it would most likely be the clerk making up shit, but the latter would warrant research. In circumstances like that, one should def. Request confirmation from a manager and covertly document it. (It is newsworthy and could cost a corp tremendously
He stated the check was "put through" a couple times then the cashier had to call corporate to see why it was being rejected. I would take that as the check was being run through a scanner/machine.

As mentioned above, its very likely that Staples "corporate" was not handling the check. A third party check service was. The cashier may not understand the difference.

Do we have threads of businesses that are and aren't firearms friendly?
I think that would be great to have one of each stickied if possible.
That way we can help others avoid where to shop and steer them where to go.

There's an app for that.

I think we tried in the past, but it petered out due to reality of business, and realization that if you shut out everything you don't like in life, you find your world incomplete.

Deep.

Run through a scanner. "Clerks" are only marginally involved anymore. At least in these types of stores.
