View Full Version : Man commits felony on video while "destroying" an AR
So I saw this video on one of the social media sites... Go to about the 4:45 mark to see the results.

All the gun grabbers are crying tears of joy, but as I watch this moron cut the barrel down to about 5 inches, is he just creating an SBR here? Am I missing something here? Hope the ATF is following this and can apprehend this criminal before he breaks any more laws!
I mean it wouldn’t function after 1 round and probably wouldn’t be accurate but by definition I would say it’s an SBR. No different than hacking your shotgun down

Looks like some handsome hero made a similar comment already.

Why would it not function after one round?
Apparently this is some sort of movement that the gun grabbers are trying to congratulate and promote.

Cut the gas tube.

Ha, sure did, was not me! Would love to hear what the ATF has to say about this... What is the penalty for a felony of this nature these days?

*blank stare*....with a really solid WTF? is happening here.
Ah yeah the gas tube... forgot about that. Still qualifies as an SBR though.

Laws are not black and white. His intent is not to create a SBR. You're a fool if you think he will be charged.

Not sure about today, but in 1992 the penalty was the lives of one of your children and your wife.

Seems silly to me, but he is from Scotchtown, New York. He has a hidden agenda in doing this publicity stunt.

Maybe the man is a genius.
The libs are cheering for him, they all believe it, and he may have just filmed his own “boating accident.”

he didnt even destroy the "firearm" portion of it. All he did was saw the upper in half.
The lower receiver is still completely intact. had he chopped up the lower, I'd be convinced. He's probably inside ordering a new upper as we speak.

I love after every tragedy there's "this guy" who's making a point by destroying an AR. Then his next comment is, "This will do nothing." And he's absolutely right unless he was planning on committing a violent act with the rifle that's now destroyed, which I'm willing to bet he probably wasn't.

No, that's just how laws generally work. A lot include intent, or knowingly doing something
If laws weren't gray there would be no need for the court process.

No that's how the laws work for the elites. For the rest of us its "Ignorance of the law is no excuse".
I doubt he'll be charged as well, but that's because the ATF approves of what he's done. But the truth is, whether he realized it or not or whether he intended it or not, he committed a felony and if the ATF (or local PD for that matter) wanted to prosecute, they could and they'd likely win (unless a jury full of New Yorkers were to Nulify ... which isn't out of the question).
Ahh, the ol' Hilary defense...
That was my first thought too.
I'm still planning on using this if I ever get pulled over for speeding. Just like Hillary officer, I did not intend to break the law. I have never had a speeding ticket but I have to believe that some officers out there in rural areas may be impressed with my attempt :)

Man, if I only knew of a person or a group of people that regularly enforced laws...I could ask them.
But since I clearly don't I'm willing to bet that any group of jurors you found would agree that the "rifle" was being destroyed and/or in the process of being destroyed.
And I'm willing to bet that 99.9 percent of LE would say, "Looks like a destroyed rifle to me."

As long as it helps promote the agenda, they won't be held accountable.
Remember this one? NBC's David Gregory Won't Be Charged For Showing Ammo Magazine (https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2013/01/11/169188028/nbcs-david-gregory-wont-be-charged-for-showing-ammo-magazine)
It's fun to point out creating an SBR first, but I can't imagine anyone actually being upset about him committing a felony in the process.
The hilarious thing here is that all these liberals are cheering him on yet he is technically performing a felony while saying he is a legal gun owner. These people are the ones calling for something to be done and more laws, yet they CLEARLY don't know what laws are on the books already. This just proves the point that we have far too many asinine gun laws on the books as it is, if this guy in his attempt to destroy a gun actually made it more dangerous in the eyes of our government.
It seems like improving the Fed BGC system is gaining momentum and I have to say I might be for it depending on what they do, but one of my conditions would be to ban states from performing additional BGCs. One single good list, not that plus 50 more lists. And while they are at it, tie that bill to national reciprocity like a driver's license.
I think I will try this next time I order a new upper. Just film yourself cutting the barrel off an old one and post it on line. Just think, you get kudos from the libs all while getting rid of an old Vietnam era possibly non-functioning upper. That was brilliant he didn't even damage the BCG and the libs think there is actually one less gun out there. He can order the new upper and have it sent to his house without a BGC and have a like new gun, brilliant.

Was that an sp1? Dang I would have traded him a cheap Anderson for that that he could have cut. Haha
just wait till they start cutting up polytech legends uggggg I’ll shed a tear
Every video of ONE firearm being destroyed, we (gun owners) should all buy TWO firearms.
Maybe I'm missing something but isn't that a left handed A1?

Yep, ignorance is no excuse. Even if the number of laws exceeds what a person could read in several life times. I've reasoned my way out of multiple heaps of trouble by knowing the law more so then the LE. Not to mention all the "constructive" intent.
I am glad to see he followed through by wacking the recievers. Though I'm not so convinced it wasn't Photo-shopped. The way the trigger guard looks bumps me the most.

isn't still technically a firearm if the receiver wasn't torch cut? Full disclosure, I didn't want to give the guy another view so I didn't watch it. An anitgun video would severely skew my youtube off if it thinks I like it.
I wonder if anyone has notified the ATF of someone on video making an SBR?

Mine's (not a '66...early 70s) screaming at me to let it out. But I know better than to do that. It just wants me to rub oil on it.

That's actually a good reminder to throw a coat on mine
Guess that makes the one you have worth just slightly more now that there is one less out there. Look on the bright side?
As popular as the video got, I am wondering if the ATF ever did pay this guy a visit to at least explain to him that he did something illegal in the video.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say "No".
But I bet if we call the FBI and say he's a Russian they'll be all over it.

Why isn't the ATF going all apeshit over these people making SBRs? They wanna prosecute legitimate, law-abiding gun owners for the slightest offense, but these asshats just do whatever they want in the name of social change and it's ignored. Different set of legal standards for the anti-gun crowd just like there is between the left and right. We've seen it with guys possessing prohibited magazines and guns, too, in the past.
I'm so tired of the double standards in this country.
