I know some of you guys were able to checkout the new P365 and wanted to hear your thoughts? I am thinking of replacing my G26 with one and have never owned a sig for that matter. Sounds like a G43 sized pistol with a G26 capacity.

What's it going to cost to switch over to the Sig. Including Holsters, gear, mags etc? My issue with the Sig, or any other handgun when switching platforms is cost related to items for said pistol.

I don’t buy anything when it’s first introduced. I let other people be the guinea pigs. Once it’s been out in the real world and has proven itself to be trouble free then I’d consider it.

They are fighting several "new product" issues with it. I've heard several problems from early adopters, including multiple reports of broken firing pins.

Sig's holding off on manufacture/delivery of the new model, last I heard. Search the various Sig forums, and you'll find threads like this with more detail: http://sigtalk.com/p250-p320-p365-p320-x-5-pistols/271490-sig-tweaking-p365-design.html

If it were me, and it is me cuz I'm interested in the gun as well, I'd wait a while... My understanding is that it's a gun designed around a magazine.

This is what I will be doing. I have been following the P365 progress over on the SIGforum and yes the little pistol is having several teething issues.

I have two small pistols that work for me so I will not be in a huge hurry to get one. Cool concept but not quite right yet.

It's a new SIG. Wait till next year for the gen 2.

I took the plunge and purchased one at Tanner on Saturday (killer deal with a 12 rnd Mag thrown in) Just at first blush and 250 rounds through it, I am a happy camper. Nothing hinkey at all and it went bang on every pull.
Now to take it out next weekend and see if it was lyin to me.

Drucker, if you’d be willing to let me check it out in person sometime that would be mighty awesome of you.

Not seeing any size comparison to the Sig 938. For me, the 938 fits perfectly in a (Barsony) leather Makarov holster. YMMV

Thanks. I don’t really even want to shoot one. More interested in kind of field stripping it and checking out the mechanics of it. I’m OCD about the way something is designed to function. I had a P320 but couldn’t stand the design (specifically the way the sear reset after the trigger break on the pull) and got rid of it. I guess I’m mostly curious how closely the design is to the P320. I don’t really want to buy one only to dislike the mechanical function of the design and end up selling it.

The slide stop/release and take down lever are right next to each other, close enough to look like an extended slide release.

I actually found my thumb on the take down trying to release the slide.

In an actual stress reload situation, it could be an issue if you managed to flick the take down lever

Did not shoot it, just was looking it over.

Size was nice, trigger was nice, felt nice in the hand except for my pinkie not having a perch

Purchased an LC9s as I scrape the funds up for one of these.

“In an actual stress reload situation, it could be an issue if you managed to flick the take down lever“

Why would you ever be trying to release the slide during a reload with the slide stop? The only thing my slide stop gets used for is to lock back the slide when I don’t have an empty mag in the gun or to lock slide back during certain malfunction clearance drills. Stress reload should involve ripping the slide back with the support hand and letting it slam home, no slide stop involved.

I've got one and run a couple hundred rounds through it. Overall, I'm extremely happy. I think the trigger is great.

Only thing I don't like is the mag release. It's not raised enough IMO.

I will write a more complete review in the next few days.

Because that's the way a lot of people do it.

A stress reload "SHOULD" be done by releasing the slide by hand? Says who? Sure, that's one way to do it. But using the slide stop is another completely valid method. And one that requires a lot less hand movement I might add.

I've taken a lot of classes run by some extremely experienced individuals. And not one of them has ever taught that the slide stop shouldn't be used.

Kinda a silly thing to get triggered by IMO.

Run that thing how you want, hollohas. I say it’s mostly personal preference.

I prefer to release the slide by hand but only because I shoot a lot of different pistols and that method works on every one so I don’t have to change up my technique from pistol to pistol depending on the size or location of the slide stop.

Hitting a slide stop is a fine motor skill. If you are in a fight your fine motor skills are going to take a dump, and if your hands are wet, sweaty or bloody, trying to activate a small slide stop is not something I am going to train for. Plus grabbing and sling shotting set the slide is also what you will be doing to clear malfunctions. I like to keep everything consistent. Run it how you want but I use mine at the range the same way I would use it in a fight.

I plan on picking up one of these when the price comes down some to see how I like it. I prefer something more the size of a G19 or P320 but this one might be good for warm weather carry. Can’t wait to give one a try.

Hitting a slide stop is a fine motor skill.

It's no finer a motor skill than pulling a trigger is. Unless you're willing to tell me you're going to lose all that trained muscle memory from your pointer finger, than it's quite a jump to claim you'll lose the trained muscle memory in your thumb.

Point is, both are valid when practiced.

-------------

I've been dry firing the P365 a lot with the laser cartridge. I love this thing. The sights are bright and the front dot BIG. It points effortlessly. The trigger is clean. The grip texture is nice too. No need to stipple this thing. It's not so comfortable on bare skin on your side.

First trip to the range. After 200 rounds, I expected my hand to not be too happy like most micro compacts, but I could have kept shooting all day comfortably.

150 rounds Blazer Brass 9mm 115g were flawless. Slow and rapid fire.

50 rounds Hornady Critical Duty were flawless as well.

Pic is 10 rounds from 7 yards standing. 1 per second. I think the left leaning group is my fault and not the sights being off. I'll need to spend some time figuring out how much finger to use on the trigger on this small gun. Hence the dry firing with the laser.

The only issue I had was reloads. The mag release just barely sticks up...hardly at all. It's not easy to push. Also, the mags tended to kinda get hung up in my palm and pinky. I needed to loosen my grip a bit around my pinky to get it to drop. The slide release worked great ;)

5 shots from 16 yards, standing. The wind caught the high one ;).

I finally caved and ordered one. It's a new production model and I was able to get it for $425 so I figured why not. Apparently the late 2018+ models have all the issues sorted out. I'll update once I get it.

Mine has been fired 600+. It was born oct 2018. I haven't had any of the problems.

My 365 is just slightly thicker than my 938. Have an IWB kydex for a 938. With 2 or 3 minutes work with a hair dryer it fits the 365 perfectly.

I recently purchased the 365, and it's been an absolute joy so far. Until the 365, I was unable to find a pistol smaller than the Glock 26/27, that allowed use of higher capacity magazines. With the 365 I have the option of 10, 12, and 15 round mags, very similar to the G26 in a much smaller package. I likely won't carry the 365 using the 15 round mag, but I'd like to get a 12 rounder for carry in the pistol, and use the 15 as backup, I'm currently using the flush 10 rounder with 15 as backup.

I like mine, but loading the magazines is some serious work. When I first shot my pistol, it would be out of battery by maybe a hair and I would need to push the slide forward with my thumb, but after about 20 rounds or so, it worked itself out and went into battery without issues.

I like it and am going to start carrying it at work.

Still love mine. I got it in May '18 and have been carrying it 7 days/week for over a year now. No issues with it what-so-ever at the range since my last post other than the mag release. I wish someone would make an aftermarket replacement that was just a bit higher. Other than that, I am thrilled with this little gun.

The Sig branded Blackpoint Tactical IWB "mini-wing" holster that I got directly from Sig has been good except the plastic belt clips both broke within 6 months or so. They have since been replaced with more durable metal belt clips. Otherwise the holster is very comfortable and conceals well in the semi-casual business environment where I work.
