Just a masterpiece of an article on 9 News. Yeah this guy goes into detail about being a loner and having sever depression and no love and mental instability. He even goes to say that influences such as music, videos games, or movies are not factors. But the biggest reason why didn't shoot up a school....no access to guns. That's the biggest reason. I'm so happy he spoke out about his troubling time and how the world was saved because of no access to firearms instead of addressing the multitude of other issues.

"I was almost a school shooter."
That's not a sentence many people ever hear, or read. It's also not a sentence many people would ever say publicly.
A man named Aaron did.
Days after the deadly school shooting in Florida, Aaron chose to write to Next, and share his personal story. It's not for attention. Aaron did it to help even one person who may be considering the fate he once considered.
An act of kindness helped Aaron out of a dark place. We'll share his full story, in his own words, Monday evening on Next with Kyle Clark (https://www.facebook.com/Nexton9NEWS/).
This is the message he sent to us:
I was almost a school shooter.
I didn't carry out anything, I didn't hurt anyone. But in 1996, I almost did the worst possible thing.
I was very much the outcast in high school. I had a very chaotic and violent childhood, moving from place to place, having the people I was closest to be the ones who hurt me most. I was shy, and sensitive, and smelled bad because I either had dirty clothes on that had not been washed in weeks or because I was filthy from not having a shower also for.weeks at a time. I was picked on and bullied. For being fat. For being smart. For not playing sports. So I got angry, and I started hiding weapons around anywhere I hung out at frequently. I had hidden around me knives, sticks, shanks, brass knuckles, whatever. I always kept one in arms reach.
I say all of this not to shock, or to upset people, or to say I agree at all with this evil. I say this to show that the problem is hard.
People say mental health is the issue. And that's true. My mental health was in sad shape, I was severely depressed and suicidal, I felt like I had nothing at all in life to look forward to and so I literally had nothing to lose. When someone has nothing to lose, they can do anything, and that thought should be terrifying. So yes, mental health was an issue.
A bigger issue was love. I had a severe lack of love, and I really think this kid did too.
Some people blame this violence on the media, or video games, or music. We call those people morons. But there is one thing that would have made it all different. One thing, that if it was in the equation, would have ended up in terror.
I didn't have access to an assault rifle.
I was almost a school shooter.
I am not a school shooter because I didn't have access to guns.
Guns don't kill people, people kill people.
But people with guns kill lots of people.
I have come a long way in the 25 years or so since this all was happening. I have grown as a person, becoming a father and family man. I most definitely have things to live for and to lose. I still have battled depression over the years, but I have a much easier time winning that fight.
If you see someone who looks like they need love, give it to them. Even a small hug, a word, or a smile could actually save lives. Compassion is the only real way we can stop this. Love people even when they don't deserve it.
"Love is all we need" - John Lennon
I wrote this because my wife and daughter kept saying how they could not understand what could make someone do this. Sadly, I can. This is a hard conversation to have, but we must have it.
If you or someone you know is struggling with a mental health issue, there is help available.
Call Colorado Crisis Services at 844-493-8255 for help, or if you just need someone to talk to. That number is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and every day of the year.
You can also chat with Colorado Crisis Services (http://coloradocrisisservices.org/) online - or text them - using 38255.

No, I think not, He clearly points out that he didn't have access...therefore guns are the issue

I assume you are being sarcastic. Criminals do crimes. Even selling guns illegally. Shocker, I know.

I'm rarely serious....

I'm certainly not about to open my safe and saw everything up on a youtube video or anything.

Saw it on the news. Actually sounded like the biggest reason was somebody made a blueberry/peach pie just for him. He was the fat, smart kid that got picked on. But a friends family reached out, without even knowing he was depressed and invited him over for pie the mom made. Shut down the suicide thoughts right there. More of that and less gun control would do wonders.

However an earlier 9news bit tried to make the AWB ban look like a success (weak research). But congrats to Kyle Clark on his first daughter (hence the pink jacket)! Y'all here probably hate him but he's a good entertainer and has done some good reporting.

I could make up some sob story shit like that in a few minutes, type it up, send it to gullible news fools and puff up my virtue signaling chest. Doesn't mean jack. Canned chicken soup for the masses.

The guy was quite a few steps from being a school shooter...he may have had the thought, and even if had REALLY tried to get a gun, he still would have had to practiced with it, or learned how it functioned, formulated some form of plan, and would have had to muster the necessary evil fortitude to carry out the plan. This guy didn't seem cold enough to really act on his thoughts.

I could have been..., but I didn't have...

Said every wanna be ever.

Stop glorifying the little bastards. Cuff him, put a black sack over his head, fly him about 100 miles over the Atlantic Ocean and all his problems will be solved with a boot to the ass. When someone asks what happened to the last mass shooter, just say we let them go. Fish gotta eat but I don't need to watch months of the judicial system grinding away and political pontification about doing something while doing nothing.

If we can disregard the 2nd Amendment then I am willing to overlook the 8th Amendment. I'm just not in the mood for this nonsense any more.

I wish the "#Me Too" crowd would have some compassion. Why is the media tolerating his hate speech? Are we ''morons" just because we have different views? How can he be taken seriously with such name calling.

I was almost an astronaut once.

But since I didn't have the very strong inner motivational drive required to work that hard and didn't have access to the proper education, I didn't make it.

Luckily someone gave me a propane truck. Turned my life around. I no longer have thoughts of becoming an astronaut.

Well in that case I almost cleaned the house before my wife got home.

If these guys were getting laid on a regular basis, we wouldn't have any school shootings.

The stupid is getting really thick!!! As a pen tester, I find the security at most schools disturbing and most of all negligent. For starters, schools should bring in pen testers to assess the physical security of the school, and come up with a POAM. Secondly, schools should cut useless and redundant administration and pay the salaries for 1-3 local LEOs to be on-site, and finally the school should allow any faculty that wants to be trained in the defense of the school. Call me crazy but maybe a target that wasn't soft as pudding might help with this problem.

As far as the article...what a dumbass political hack. We all could have done a lot of things, but we choose not to because we know right from wrong. A person who wants to do harm will do harm, and we as a society give these serial/mass murderers one huge stage to play with all the media and social media attention they get.

School spending is ridiculous, but the second funding is cut they blame conservatives and that's why they can't afford security.

So I guess I was even closer to being a school shooter, considering I had access to guns from 11-18?

Let's not let the fact that I knew shooting innocent people was wrong, and so the thought never crossed my mind get in the way.

I did throw a desk at a teacher once- but she was wrong and wouldn't admit it... so I had a "violent history"

I won't try to come up with fixes to address the waste in school funding. But as far as school security goes, it is really stupid. Numerous incidents have shown that schools are vulnerable and exploitable. Instead of addressing the vulnerability people use emotionalism go off on the attack vector. Address the vulnerabilities!!! In this day of identity theft, people should understand the stupidity of proposing the ban of computers to address the vulnerabilities with the host "target". Although, people probably are that stupid.

I was picked on non stop....by my older brother. I went to school to get away from him. The kids at school had nothing on that guy.
