Sig MPX gen 2 upper for the price of a conversion kit?

I was just watching an FAQ video produced by Sig talking about the differences between the gen 1 and gen 2 MPX. In the video the guy mentions that gen 1 owners can call Sig, give them the serial number, then have them sell you a gen 2 upper for the cost of a caliber conversion kit. He was saying the lower is exactly the same between the two generations. I'm actually pretty tempted to try this. Has anyone else heard of this or taken Sig up on the deal?

I don't know what has occurred recently with this but last I heard they had basically said they don't have any available and none will be in the foreseeable future as all the mfg is going to new guns,

Isn't the gen 2 a "new gun" or are they not even producing the MPX gen 2 right now? I tried to call but they were closed, going to call them tomorrow.

Yes...both...after taking notes from the HK handbook and deciding that they too hate us.
