April 21, one day event, currently showing as sold out

June 16/17 two day event, currently shown as 5 spots out of 12 remaining.

Thanks for the heads up. If you have never done an Appleseed definitely recommend them. Great for learning and reinforcing fundamentals, and good American history refresher.

What are the one day events? Do you need to attend a 2 day before you can go to a 1 day? Do you just need a 10/22 for the one day or something bigger? Their descriptions are not real clear the differences between the two. I understand KD (Known Distance, long range 400+ yds) events require previous appleseed qualification.

I didn't see anything to indicate any previous attendance for the 1 day events.

Appears any rifle from a .22 to 8mm is good.

Both Centerfire and 22 Rimfire rifles are allowed at this event.


from the FAQ:


You can use any safe rifle permitted by the range which can be accurately shot from the shoulder, from a .22 to a .32 (8mm). We’re semi-auto and bolt-gun friendly.

Our events are not caliber specific. It doesn’t matter to us if you use .308, .30-06, .223, .22, 7.62×39, 8mm, .303 — they’re all fine. If you’re a good marksman, you’ll be able to hit with any caliber, though .22LR is typically preferred as a good economical choice.


Although if you are planning a 22, note this additional caveat:

If you read further down on the info page:

“For the 1-day long distance shoots, bring a high power rifle. You will want at least 75 centerfire rounds to sight in and shoot 100-400 yards. Shooting will be in prone position but if you can't do that, we'll work with you.”

I'm doing the 2-day. Was originally planning to use my DMR style AR for the whole thing, but now I'm reconsidering using a 22LR for the first day (when I think all the shooting is done with reduced targets at 25 meters), and then breaking out the AR just for the 2nd day when I think they'll be doing actual distance shooting.

Can anyone who has attended offer any feedback on this? Assuming I do this, I'll probably pick up a new 22lr rifle, probably a simple 10/22. I've got a decent 3-9x40 scope I'll throw on it (my old eyes suck with iron sights).

My son and I attended the 2-day appleseed shoot this weekend at CRC. Was a good class, I had never done any prone or sitting/kneeling shooting, so that was completely new for me. I thought it was good basic rifle shooting instruction, done safely, fired around 500 rounds each over the 2 days. Enjoyed the history lessons/stories. Best score of the weekend for me was a 181. My first score was about 120-130, so it was a pretty big improvement. We had 2 people in the class shoot over 210 for their rifleman patch. This was the 2nd appleseed for both of them.

It was my first time at CRC..... quite the haul to get there from Littleton, but I think I'll probably try to hit up a couple matches up there... long drive but pretty easy. Weather was very hot saturday, then got crazy windy the 2nd part of the day sat. Sunday started out cooler, then the sun came out after lunch and warmed it up, and around 4:30 the wind and rain came.

My elbows are bruised and blistered from being down in the prone position so much, even with shooting mats and even elbow pads.

Was a little disappointed that the 2 day event at CRC didn't include any known-distance stuff, the website to sign up didn't make that very clear. But all in all, a very fun way to spend the weekend.
