It is, but who's going after them for it? The MSM is against us, so they will praise Wally and Dick's for it.

Too bad they don't ask for I.D. when using a credit card for under $25 - 50 purchases. What a scam that is

Yeah...that's a smart move. If I was a stockholder I'd be pissed:

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2018/04/17/dicks-sporting-goods-to-destroy-all-unsold-firearms-pulled-from-shelves-after-parkland-shooting.html

Dick’s Sporting Goods announced on Monday it will destroy all of the unsold firearms it pulled off store shelves in February after the deadly Parkland school shooting.

The sports retailer decided to destroy the assault-style rifles instead of returning them to the manufacturer, the Pittsburgh Post Gazette reported. On Feb. 28, 2018, the Pittsburgh-based company announced it would immediately stop selling assault-style rifles and ban the sale of all guns to anyone under 21. It was not immediately clear how many firearms will be destroyed.

“We are in the process of destroying all firearms and accessories that are no longer for sale as a result of our February 28th policy change,” a spokesperson from Dick’s Sporting Goods told the media outlet. “We are destroying the firearms in accordance with federal guidelines and regulations.”

What a bunch of idiots. Bonehead business move, but it also gets them in the press again.

How many guns are we talking about?

The only stores were they sold AR style weapons were the 35 Field and Stream locations. Let's say the each store had 3- 5 units, the warehouse probably had another 50.

My guess is under 200 guns in limbo.

Neither federal nor state law prohibits age discrimination.

State law: CRS C.R.S. 24-34-601 states that:

(a) It is a discriminatory practice and unlawful for a person, directly or indirectly, to refuse, withhold from, or deny to an individual or a group, because of disability, race, creed, color, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, national origin, or ancestry, the full and equal enjoyment of the goods, services, facilities, privileges, advantages, or accommodations of a place of public accommodation

Federal law is Title II of the Civil Rights Act, which states that

SEC. 201. (a) All persons shall be entitled to the full and equal enjoyment of the goods, services, facilities, and privileges, advantages, and accommodations of any place of public accommodation, as defined in this section, without discrimination or segregation on the ground of race, color, religion, or national origin.

So, 100% legal.

Age discrimination is only illegal in the context of employment (and possibly housing - honestly I haven't looked that up so I don't know.) But if I was to tell some old gay couple that I wasn't going to make them a wedding cake because I don't make cakes for old people, that would be legal. [ROFL1]

Neither federal nor state law prohibits age discrimination.

Not Colorado state law, but other states DO have prohibition on age discrimination, hence why they're being sued in those states.

And my guess is that if those suits go anywhere the most likely result is that Dicks and Wal Mart will simply stop selling firearms in those states.

And honestly I don't know that that would be a bad thing. I know there are lots of smaller towns or cities where the stocking gun dealers have all but been put out of business by wal mart. When I lived in Laramie in the early 2000's, for a while there was only one stocking gun dealer other than Wal-Mart and that was the West Laramie Fly Store. There were FFL's in town that could receive or order guns, but if you wanted to go and actually look at something and buy it, Wal Mart or West Laramie were your only choices.

I'll bet it would be very easy for either Dicks or Wal Mart to simply discontinue gun sales in contentious states because I don't think they make that much money off of them.

Dick's is an overpriced sporting goods store with the yuppie metrosexual art major tennis player/snow skier in mind and Chinamart is a store for the mentally retarded and illegal alien democrat welfare recipient free shit mafia.

I assume you mean Walmart by "Chinamart" here. I don't get the Walmart bashers. I get my Motorcraft supplies (air, oil filers, oil, etc.) there cheaper than Amazon or any auto part store. And milk is milk to me. Kraft Mac and Cheese for the kids is the same product as anywhere else, just cheaper. A pound of Starbucks coffee for the wife is cheaper than it is at Starbucks. Same with the same bread, cheese, etc., etc., that I'd buy elsewhere. Cheaper is good for me and family. I win. And BTW, I don't think I'm mentally retarded or a member of an illegal alien democrat welfare recipient free shit mafia.

Sorry to derail.....

Davie, no offense. If you avoid Walmart more power to you. Spend your money how you want, you're an adult American.

In general, I find the cheapest off the shelf ammo at Walmart. If your argument is that they are leftists, than I'm shoving up their own ass by buying ammo there.

Sorry, who shops at Dicks (name implied) or Walmart. Why are they relevant?

I was asked for age verification, at WM, 5 years ago.
"Dear, I am older than you."
"I need age verification."
"Good day. I will go to a free store."
"Dumb look."

I think it is time to clean house at Walmart headquarter at Arkansas again. Instead of allocating their labor on online/etail sales and pickup, they are playing little stupid PR like "we will increase $1/hr to 1.01/hr. See? we care about our employee." stupid statements. Doug is known to act slowly. If someone wants to work at top executives at S&P500 level companies (not to mentioned 30 top), they need to nimble and whale needs to dance all over the market.
They need to make online orders much less confusing.
They need to be more agressive on same day pickup and delivery much better.
They need to utilize their warehouse better to execute their orders more efficiently.

They need to stop with this 21yr or older stupid Pr crap.
They need to stop this false temporary nominal wage increase of 10% higher than minimum wage false look.

As for Dicks' Sporting goods, that shop literally have not too many stuff to purchase. Ammo is expensive. Firearms are just standard. Golf stuff are beginner to intermediate at most. baseball equipments are mainly for K-12. It is literally larger Big5.
At most, they only have beginner or beginner-intermediate sporting goods. I don't see any mid-end or high-end sporting goods at all. Even if Dick's were super gun friendly, they are cater to general sporting good merchandise. These guys are incopentent, and have to play politics to get their Q earnings increased by attracting angry mothers to buy more yoga pants.

Dicks is just virtue signaling. People forget they promised to stop selling AR's what, four, five years ago? Another mass shooting and they virtue signal "Now, we are going to stop selling AR-15's to lead the nation!" (to those with short memory). Then, they virtue signal "We are going to destroy our inventory we just stopped selling five years ago.

They don't have anything to destroy after all these years...zip. Just free advertising to the north-face wearing, combat hiking-stick millennial whom wears crochet'ed beard-warmer they bought on etsy and drives a Subaru. Basically, Dicks wants to be REI.

It's pretty cheap advertising. Let's say they have a 1000 ARs to destroy and somehow they paid $600 each (probably huge overestimates on both numbers). $600K is far less than a single 30 second spot on prime-time TV and they've gotten tons of prime-time press over it.

Cabelas- You take your time and look at the weight, velocity, price, brand, and take it to the register.
Dicks- You ask employees to ask to see the box of ammo , and go back and forth on limited selection. it also takes longer.

Dick’s Sporting Goods Hires Gun Control Lobbyists (http://freebeacon.com/issues/dicks-sporting-goods-hires-three-gun-control-lobbyists/)

Dick's Sporting Goods has hired three lobbyists to push Congress for gun control measures, according to federal records.

Records show Dick's had hired two Democrats and one Republican from the Washington-based public affairs firm Glover Park Group, The Federalist reported. The only specific lobbying issue listed on the form for their work was "lobbying related to gun control."

Their effective registration date for the lobbyists' work was April 27:

I bought my golf club set at the Dick's in Bel Air, MD in 1998. They seemed really FUDD, even back then.

Other the occasional pair of running shoes and some random piece of sports equipment, I don't think we have spent much $$ there. I liked Gaylans (the Flatirons Mall location was awesome), which unfortunately got purchased by Dick's in the early 00's.

I've been spending time at Murdochs lately. I don't buy ammo retail, but it looks like they have a great selection. Not behind a counter. Also have a great target selection. I think they did a good job with the guns/ammo addition.
