Earlier this month, I posted in a thread about tenants stealing a car last April, now I get an impound notice on the car, and I am going to try and go pick it up in Aurora tomorrow. I need to get a police report and see if I can have the dead beat tenants served with papers now. Hopefully the car isn't totaled or trashed too bad, so I can at least re coup the impound fees of over $500.

While you're there, can you see if they have an ATM on site and let me know?

Hope everything goes well for you.

No ATM that I saw, but I did see a pay phone. It's been a while since I have seen one of them. The car was totaled, so I left it. No since in paying another $552.50 to get a pile of scrap worth $120.
The gentlemen in the Aurora PD impound were about as rude and unhelpful as can be. I was as nice as I could be, but they couldn't have cared less.
M and M towing lady was very helpful and polite. I explained the situation, she said we should go look at the car before I paid. It saved me the money. I had the key in my pocket, so I was able to unlock it, but the motor was toast. I told her I didn't want it, offerd her the key and title. They thanked me for the key, but did not need the title.

Website says they accept cash only. They don't post a fee schedule. Says to call for charges. Sorry for your loss!

Just curious, did you file a report with the police and were criminal charges filed against the thieves?

I hope your insurance paid you something, but we all know that never covers the costs involved.

It's almost not worth having anything nice.

I was not able to file charges. They said it was a civil matter. I spoke with the DA, he said to report it stolen. The PD said it was civil. I say I was just screwed. Lesson learned, never sell a car on payments. I got $200 for a $2500 car from people who were living in my rental. They did around $7000 in damages by burning the carpet and railing on the back porch, kicking in my custom cabinets, taking a hammer to my new kitchen floor, burning the countertop in the bathroom, the list goes on and on. They also stuck me with a $700 utility bill because they never switched it out of my name as they were supposed to per contract. Obviously, contracts aren't worth the paper they are written on according to PD, unless both parties abide by them.
They took the car and hid. They left large unpaid bills in their wake with everyone I know they had dealings with. The city, the school, the cable company, me and so forth. PD thinks they are con artists, and I have to agree.
A positive thing is, I know one of them is in jail on an unrelated case. Hopefully, the other will be soon.
I'm done dealing with them. I've all ready sucked up the loss and am moving on. They don't deserve any more stress from me. Driving up to Aurora yesterday I was pissed. Starting in Castle Rock, I saw the Fire guys and PD lined up on the over passes for SFC Mofi. It put me in a great mood seeing the support of our community. The problems these people caused mean nothing. I was smiling even when I got home last night. The wife was mad about the car at first, by my good mood changed and infecred her as well. It was a great day knowing their life is miserable.

Your experience with the Aurora impound is not unique. When my neighbor told me he had to pay $400.00 to get his car back, I wondered why that wasn't included in "Protect and Serve". They had the car for about a week before they let him know. Then I heard a story about a lady on the west side, Lakewood or Jeffco. Her car was involved in a something and the perp left blood in the car so the needed to take the car in for processing. Funny part is they charged HER for the round trip tow and storage fees. She, like the OP was a victim. Twice. Too bad you don't qualify for some of that victim's assistance we all pay for victimizing the world by speeding.
