View Full Version : How long does it take for supply to catch up with demand?
Ruger Politically Correct Carbine. It's new, it's in high demand, they obviously can't make them fast enough. Any precedents (in non gun scare eras) for when a product might actually be available? Feel free to let me know where I can find one now at a reasonable price :)

Yeah, I'm right there with you. When I talked to Noah at Ark, he expected at least a couple months. He already sold two on pre-paid backorder.

They're on a unknown date of delivery back order. I place my order before shot was told 3 months, maybe. You're a little late, there's probably a few hundred ahead of you ;)
Regarding "reasonable priced" I know where there are 2 on the shelf, today. However i am sure as hell not paying $660 + BGC, tax etc for something i can wait on. Especially when i was quoted $550 + tx and bgc from a smaller ffl. business
Interesting. I hadn't been paying attention to new introductions. I have some Glock mags that would be put to good use in one of those.
I'm willing to pay MSRP now instead of waiting 9 months or whatever. In the grand scheme of things, that price difference is only the cost of a good bottle of tequila...and I have plenty of those. Sure as hell won't pay more than MSRP.

Liberty range in Johnstown and Liberty USA in ft collins have them @ $659. If you feel that $100 is worth it, enjoy
Buds and brownells (on B/O) has them listed for $559.

I know a guy that got one Wednesday. He really likes it. He first saw one at Cabela’s. But got his off gun broker. I think a place on GB called showmeguy might have a couple.

I would expect the wait for a Ruger would be relatively short compared to some other brands...Kel-Tec comes to mind. I've waited several years for more than one Kel-Tec I've wanted.
I know it's a sample of 1 but....watching hickock45 clear jams out of his has calmed my desire some.

And call me crazy but...pretty sure you can have a 9mm AR for less right now, which is also takedown... Sort of. I don't get the curb appeal at that price point. $300? Maybe.
It's a semi auto carbine i can bring to CA with little to zero hassle since it
1: isn't an AR
2: doesn't look like an AR
3: painted stock, looks even less evil.
4: 1/2 doz 10 rd mags to go along with the G26 on road trips to CA
5: broke down, it's even less conspicuous then the lever actions.
Fuck CA...
i was bored watching sharknado in The background, occasionally looking up wishing that shit was live on CNN.

I remember buying two M&P Shields in 2013, released late 2012. Took almost 12 months for prices/supply to settle back below MSRP.

I just got back from the range. I tried two different types of ammo (bulk Walmart Federal and WWB) in a mix of 7 different mags, factory Glock happy sticks, Magpul 21 rd, and a Factory 15rd. I had zero FTF or FTE or really any other problems.
I bought this because as Kazoo said, it's not an AR. I'll admit I'm not a big fan of ARs. I like the ergonomics and that's about it. Also as he said this will take 10rd Mags from a 26, not sure an AR can do that? But regardless the ruger will work with just about any and all glock mags, which is always nice.
The PC has some real heft to it. I was expecting a build weight similar to the 10-22, but the PC is heavy all around. I've found few guns that I fall in love with the first time holding it, and the PC is one of them. The sights are perfectly aligned to me. The fit and finish are amazing.
My two biggest complaints are: fully loaded mags are a bit tough to lock the first time. You really have to slap it in. And the other is with the Magwell itself. While not cheap per se, it has a bit of flimsy to it that if given the chance could cause some problems. I'd assume the over-insertion block could cause some problems if bent. In the future I could see companies making replacements that are a bit more stout, or even whole replacement stocks without interchangeable mag wells.
Other than that, I'm glad I got one. It's a fun, accurate (more so than me), good quality little carbine.

For me, if I'm gonna put up with all the disadvantages of a handgun and all the disadvantages of a rifle in a single package it's gonna be in a more serious caliber. I have a Ruger .44 Carbine and it's pretty fun to shoot. Advantage to the PC is detachable mags.
Reminds me...I need to pick up an SU-16.

Actually, announced on 4/12/12. I know because I have one of the original production batch and bought it that day. I don't usually buy a firearm that early, but took the risk. That one had the odd FTE problem once every 3-4 magazines. Returned it; got the same unit back and has been reliable over about 1K rounds. They did replace the barrel - something about the feed ramp not quite right. A good shooter (the gun, not me).
