My older son is off at Ft. Knox for the Army Senior Leader Course to prepare for his promotion to E7, he's gone for another week + (been 4 already). Every time he goes away something goes wrong at the house. They have a 4.5 yr old boy and an 8 month old baby. Well the older one came down with a severe sinus infection (we were concerned initially it was the flu). Of course germs spread to mom and baby. Last week the clothes washer died, this morning she called to say the furnace didn't come on. Got the washer replaced Tuesday and her mother has a handy man that takes care of her rental properties-he came by to work on the furnace and got it running, cost a chunk and they'll need to replace it and work on the a/c before too long.

Last time my son went away it was car issues. Poor girl can't catch a break. Tomorrow she's taking the baby to the dr., concerned about an ear infection. I'll be able to help out a lot more after Saturday and thankfully her mother is able to give a hand now as she's retired. As my dad used to say, it's a good thing young people have the kids lol.

Well some good thoughts her way couldn't hurt, thanks.

That's pretty common. Something always happened when I go out of town for work, or hunting.

I wish I could help in person, but the fam will be in my prayers.

Aw, the TDY gremlins always strike when the spouse is away.
Hopefully the kids will get better soon and the HVAC issues can be resolved.

Sending good thoughts her way!

Everything seems to fail at once when it breaks. Makes it all the worse when the other parent is gone too.

Thanks for the good thoughts guys. The 4 yr old is in to the "when is daddy coming home" thing big time now too. The little guy and I are very tight (my son deployed when he was only 2months old so I was over a lot) but obviously it's not the same, plus while he was sick I had to stay away for my own health reasons. Looking forward to being able to do a lot more starting late Saturday.
