Yep I’ve seen it done before.... same with .380 out of 9mm. They go bang, but only once. Not gonna cycle the slide.

I can shoot 9mm in my Glock 23 all day long, and it cycles just fine

Did it once, two XD’s on the table and mags looked the same. The .40 XD made a thud sound. Mixed up mags but it fired without damaging the pistol. The caseing was swelled out and ejected.

My best friend shot a 10mms round out of my .45 USP Match at a pin shoot once. It was quite the conversation starter.

Had a gent bring me a SIG 226 in .40 that was locked up, swore there was a live round in the chamber. Conventional tricks would not get it to open up, had to machine the slide stop off.
The barrel still would not move so I had to mill out the breech to release the barrel.
Now here is the really weird part: when you looked down the muzzle there was a copper surface with the mirror image of a Federal 9mm headstamp.
But a fired .40 casing was in the chamber.
WTH?

Then it dawned on me - the owner had mixed a 9mm round in with his .40. He said the pistol misfired, he tap, rack banged it and POW!
The 9mm was deep enough in the chamber, he racked a new round in and when he fired the .40 it lit off the 9!
The .40 projectile had the mirror image of the 9mm headstamp imprinted on its nose and was stuck in the bore where it ringed the barrel.
It never ejected the spent case.
I ended up milling the barrel in half lengthwise so the damage could be seen.
The owner was a NRA instructor and wanted to use it as a "Don't let this happen to you" lesson.
I had pics but since PBucket went 'tard I cleaned them all out.

PSA: if you have 9mm and .40 TAKE POSITIVE MEANS TO KEEP AMMO SEPARATELY!
SAME HOLDS TRUE FOR 5.56 & 300 BLACKOUT!

A friend of mine got a turduckhen reman round that had a 9mm case a 32 call bullet and a 9mm on top of that go off in his 9mm ar. We removed the squib to find the two bullets lighlty mated in the barrel.

Is this the fully semi-automatic I keep hearing about?

Did the same thing when my g23 mags and my buddy's g19 mags got mixed up at the range. Good times.
