Fire burning again, this time near Midway. KOAA says evacuation of some homes now. I would be careful of travelling I-25 between Colorado Springs and Pueblo. Winds are very strong.

"As of 10:30 a.m., the initial size estimate was just 100 by 150 meters. Since then, it has grown to about 1,500 acres. "

wow... it's like it's trying to match the growth rate of the national debt...

Love the title: "Evacuations ordered after large fire from Fort Carson travels off post"

Wonder if it filled out a DA-31....

Not good. Another fire was just put out yesterday up west of Boulder in the mountains.

It is going to be a long spring, summer and portion of fall if we don't get some much needed moisture.

SW Colorado and the San Juans are in severe drought conditions and will approach extreme drought and meterologists are saying it is going to take a miracle to overcome it but the La Nina weather pattern isn't likely to help those chances out any at all. They need at least 4 good storms to come through that area by mid-May dumping at least 24" or more of snow each to get back to normal.

Colorado is going to burn this spring and summer. [emoji20]

Big time. I've had some big gusts at the house.

So these are from the tank firing?

Apache gunships is what I read. I live in a war zone.

Very much not looking forward to the inevitable fire bans this summer. Every time I enjoy a wintertime shorts and t shirt bike ride I get a little sad thinking how fucked it's going to be for the people who live up into the mountains (or who want to make some damn s'mores).

why not just put "Fire Free Zone"* signs all over the national forest?

*Not to be confused with a Free Fire Zone

Very dry in South Park, 18” of snow so far this winter season at our place. Hoping for 2-3 spring storms. Last year we were at 25”. But, good summer monsoonal rains made-up for the deficit. Prior to that we were about 50”, mostly coming from 2-3 snow storms.
