View Full Version : Unpossible!
After 5 decades living in the District of Columbia, my dad finally got a Concealed Carry Pistol License issued by the Metropolitan Police Department! It's good for 2 entire years.
Suffice to say, there's a lot of history behind that small bit of plastic. Heller was just the beginning.
Wow. Like having Santa's autograph on a piece of unicorn poop!
Yah, I heard that was almost as hard as Ca.
Wow. Color me impressed.

So he bought the gun in VA or MD? How many FFLs in DC? Does he have to register any ammunition he buys? He isn't buying ammunition in DC is he?
Is this a concealed carry permit, as in he can take it outside his home? Heller just made it legal for District residents to own and assembled firearm and keep it in their home.
I'm more impressed that the DC government was able to process the paperwork without losing it ten times or making him file multiple forms for no reason.

Like.
After all of that time I hope he gets to shoot somebody.
(Easy... I’m only joking.)

A real concealed carry permit; that only became feasible about a year ago. Of course Federal City is a landmine field of no carry zones. So this is more principle than practicality.
He gets his guns/ammo in VA and practices at the NRA mothership. [I remember as a kid shooting at the NRA range when it was in DC.]

I just drove by NRA HQ in Fairfax last month.
I remember as a kid going to the basement range of the old FBI HQ in DC and having them shoot a Tommy Gun demonstration for our class. When I worked in DC our range was in the basement of the Old Post Office and another in the basement of the Rios building at 12th and Pennsylvania Ave NW. I have fond memories of shooting many 27X/300's with my revolvers on those ranges. I understand that at least one of those ranges is now an EPA superfund site due to excessive lead levels.

Congrats. Very uncommon and can't imagine the burden. We think we have it hard here in CO to get them.
