The above link will take you to an article that explains how the numbers have been skewed all along. You need statistics to argue back against gun-grabber mentality? Here's your huckleberry.

I've tried to copy-and-paste it here, but for some reason it won't let me grab the graphs, and the graphs are incredibly important.

Gun Ownership vs Homicide Rate by State (dots are red or blue according to how the state votes):

That was an outstanding read, Grey. I was able to just left click and "Save Image As" on the above graph. I can't wait to steal this link and post it elsewhere.

Nice link, I learned a lot that I did not understand. Thank you for posting this one.

Well...the idea of knowing "gun ownership rate" is a guess, so what does that mean for the rest of the data?

THAT PIECE IS GREAT!!! Thank you for posting!

A very thorough way of pointing out how the stats have been initially manipulated to make the case for disarmament.

Which begs a question not covered in the write up: If the authors have to intentionally deceive and make guns seem more dangerous in order to make their argument, what is their motivation? It can't be public safety because the homicide data clearly shows guns do not increase homicide rates. And in order to make it appear otherwise, the authors had to (at least intellectually) acknowledge the data didn't support their narrative and therefore needed to be adjusted/conflated/cherry picked.

I run the "No-Script" addon for Firefox and with javascript shut off you can copy the text and paste it elsewhere ... then you have to turn javascript back on and you can right click and view image to grab each of the images and then put the whole thing together in Word (or a real page layout program if you have it).

I think this story is behind a pay wall because when I allowed javascript it gave me a notice that this was "1 of 3 free views". So this would be a good one to save locally since it'll be hard to get to down the road.

Great piece you found there, Grey. I have saved it to my computer and will refer to it when I get in discussions and the enemy is posting the same 40 year old studies to support their emotional safety issue.

Thanks for the advice on the options to copy and paste, guys!

Gman, your question brings up the fact that the emperor has no clothes. All of the basic arguments against guns is extrapolated from data that provides statistics of convenience; at least this way, they explain where they are extrapolating the number from.

When they say "it's for the children", ask them how many schoolchildren have been murdered by someone with any firearm defined as an "assault weapon" in a mass shoot8ng at a K-12 school in the last 20 years. That number is 36, in three shootings. Then ask them ow many 15-18 year olds were killed in motor vehicle accidents over that same time? That number is over 22,000. Those kids and parents would save orders of magnitude more children each year if they marched and voted to raise the driving age to 19.

Heck, there were over 4200 15-18 year olds killed as pedestrians in that same time frame. There were only 89 K-12 kids murdered in all school shootings over that time period. Letting them out of school to march appears to be about 50 times as dangerous as school shootings themselves are.

Guns aren't "registered" on a national level. Even the numbers of guns being purchased each month/year are an estimate based on background checks. I would think that the number of folks not willing to admit that they own a gun would not be trivial. It's none of anybody's business.

You are preaching to the choir- and I think that also hits on the nerve of gun-controllers everywhere. They like to think it is their business.
