I've been a Life Member with NRA for quite a while. They recently sent out an invitation to upgrade to an Endowment member for $250 instead of the usual $1,000. They also offered a leather jacket for doing so. I sent them my $$ and got the jacket...t'aint bad. It's made in china and even though it appears to be a heavy-duty zipper, as with most of their zippered products the zipper didn't want to go up.
I put some syl-glyde on the zippered teeth and it's acceptable now...mostly.
The jacket is quite warm and pretty much wind-proof...you can't blow through it. While it does have "NRA" tastefully embroidered on it over the left breast pocket, in 1" letters, it isn't splashed all over it like most NRA products. This is black on black...not bad. It isn't the usual glossy 'leather' look, looks more suede. It has a plaid interior lining and inside pocket.
Just FYI

What new regulations are they recommending this week?

I'm a Benefactor member but I got one when I upgraded to Patron.

The most surprising thing about this jacket is...it still fits. It hasn't shrunk like a lot of my other clothes have.

I lie to myself and tell myself my clothes shrunk too. [LOL]

If you're already an Endowment Life Member, they offer the jacket for a contribution. They rarely have shhhtuff in my size.

I loved both my life jacket and my endowment jacket. Used to wear them all the time, but eventually they wore through, tore at the pockets or along the sleeves, and blew out. They're not cheap-cheap, they just got worn a lot.

You can order replacements direct from Goose Bay if one or more of yours wear out, which I did once. This last time around I just shopped and got a nice bomber from a different source, though.

I’m a life member, but I’m clearly in the minority in wanting to remain ‘grey.’

I still like my NRA bomber jacket from Goose Bay. The first one I got for upgrading to Life membership had a good stiff leather that wore well. The second one I got for upgrading to Endowment Life had a much softer leather that didn't wear as well but didn't seem to shrink as much (since it started larger). I was looking online at their new offerings and it looks like they offer a different "brushed" leather jacket with an embossed rather than embroidered logo.

I like the look of it but I'm still fine with my current bomber jacket.

sheesh. I finally let go of my distressed leather bomber just this year. Haven't worn that 80's wonder in over a couple decades. I finally came to grips with the idea that it isn't worth much despite having spent a lot on it 4 decades ago. I don't need another one.

No, you're not. I've never worn mine. I tried it on when it arrived about 10 years ago and tried it on again after digging it out of the closet for this thread. That's the extent of use it's seen.

I thought about wearing it on the bike but the leather's just too thin to offer any real protection.
