Removing glue from concrete?

We were going to pull the carpet in one of our basement rooms and just go with polished concrete. Unfortunately, it looks like the previous owner glued the berber directly to the concrete. Any ideas on getting the glue off the floor after pulling the carpet out? It's starting to look like this would be a giant PITA. The room is about 700 sq ft so scraping and ironing would be really time consuming. Maybe just a vinal floor for now. :)

A wide (2"), sharp chisel will work pretty well and might not take as much time as you think. If it can come off well, the effort will be worth it to have awesome stained concrete floors.

if you're going to do it by hand use this as long as the concrete is smooth. Wear safety glasses, the blades tend to snap if you catch a corner.

Usually glue will come up easily if you soak it in water first, adding a small amount of laundry soap helps. It get's sloppy, mineral spirits helps get the stubborn areas.

If you're going to stain it, rent a floor grinder/etcher. Etching before staining makes it turn out much better.

Most residential concrete is low grade and porous. The glue likely soaked into the concrete and will leave glue traces below the surface.

I’ve got a long floor scraper , about a 4in blade. Needs to be sharpened or new blades. You are welcome to use it. Looks like this. Like wulf said , floor needs to be pretty smooth.

That will be easier and faster than my chisel idea.
