Has your friend checked out various insurance companies and compared them? Sometimes the monetary difference is pretty big.

Liability should be the same.

Raise the deductible to the max.

Drop collision.

How's his credit score?

Unfortunately, that plays a factor.

Not for us it doesn't. Cheapest of anyone by far, even without multi-policy, homeowner's, etc...discounts. Like almost 30% less than the next cheapest. We're an insurer's dream, too...over 50, great credit, stellar driving history, no claims for at least 10 years.

If the person is getting a loan for the Tacoma, full coverage will be necessary.

What Sideshow said, but also if you drop collision and comp, there is no deductible.

Which as mentioned on a vehicle with a loan, is not possible.

Question is, if they have a less than stellar driving record, why buy something pricey like a Tacoma? Why not buy something practical, like a small sedan that doesn't have the high ins cost a tacoma does.

Pretty much what I said. Not my show though. I think they’re set.

How many of those are still on the road? I haven't seen one in ages.

Passed one on I-70 on the way to CRC last Saturday. A few minutes after we got three, he pulled in behind us. I was actually thinking the same thing of, "huh, don't see too many of those around any more."

I had a friend in high school that cruised one but it was missing so bad we pulled the plug so he cruised on 2 cylinders...

I had a co-worker almost 20 years ago that had one as a daily driver. I just know I don't see them today. I could say the same about Yugos and Daihatsu Charades.
