View Full Version : Has Anyone Bitched About Tax Season/IRS Yet?

If not, I'll start. If so, I'll restart the bitching.
I figure about 1/2 the money we pay goes to things we use or need...military, highways, etc. The other 1/2 is wasted on non-contributing members of society. I can't wait to start collecting some Social Security. I'll probably die the month I become eligible. Kinda how my luck goes.
Yeah, fortunately I got a nice return this year and it felt good. That being said, I hate the IRS and paying taxes is crap.
I wish you the best in collecting on that Social Security for a very long time. I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to retire the way things are going.

But your money is going to fund such worthwhile programs! Here are some highlights from the recent Omnibus Spending Bill (courtesy of Rand Paul, sending via Twitter while reading the bill) to really make your blood pressure rise. Be sure to keep these in mind next time you hear some lefty talking up Bernie's 90% income tax:
o $1m for the Cultural Antiquities Task Force
o $6.25m for the Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation
o $20m for Countering Foreign State Propaganda
o $12m for Countering State Disinformation and Pressure
o $5m for Vietnam Education Foundation Grants
o $2.579m for Commission on Security and Co-operation in Europe
o $15m to USAID for promoting international higher education between universities
o $2.696bn for International Disaster Assistance
o $1.371bn for Contributions to International Organizations
o $51m to promote International Family Planning and Reproductive Health
o $7m promoting International Conservation
o $10m for UN Environmental Programs
o $1m for the World Meteorological Organization
o $218m for Promoting Democracy Development in Europe (yep..the birthplace of democracy needs promoting)
o $25m for International Religious Freedom
o $10m for disadvantaged Egyptian Students
o $12m for Scholarships for Lebanon
o $20m for Middle East Partnership Initiative Scholarship Program
o $12m in military funding for Vietnam
o $3.5m in nutrition assistance to Laos
o $15m in Developmental assistance to China
o $10m for Women LEOs in Afghanistan
...but we should promote conserving as much international as possible.
Taxes SUCK!!
I realize we need some government but the colossal behemoth we have now needs to get mega-liposuction.

Yeah. No wonder I take BP meds. Although I have to say I'm overjoyed to learn I'm contributing my share (and more for those on welfare) to promoting International Family Planning and Reproductive Health and military funding in Viet Nam.

Lot of bitches on here. Should be interesting.
On the plus side, Trump's tax cuts are for real. My wife is a CPA and does something like 500 returns a year. The VAST majority of her clients are keeping more of their money.
I got a letter from the state saying I owe them another 1200.00 and that's not even for 2017. They took a ride on the way back machine.
I was going to bitch about not saving enough money, but my accountant was very thorough and I only owe about 1/10 (additional) of what I thought.

I definitely noticed a decrease in federal withholding. Nancy "Crumbs" Pelosi can kiss my ass. I'll keep every little bit I can. It just pisses me off to think about how hard we work for what we make. The more I think about societal leeches who don't do anything but collect welfare the more angry I get.
Fortunately we're able to contribute a little more to IRAs to lessen the bite a little bit.

...and the bastards in DC want our IRAs and 401Ks too.
Got about 1/2 of what we normally get back this year...at least I didn't have to pay any additional taxes

All of my tax paperwork is sitting in a pile as I type this. Thinking this weekend might be a good time to get the ball rolling on getting it done.
If the balance I still owe after not paying them enough throughout the year isn’t more than about $4K I’m probably going to book a trip to Hawaii.
Taxes were about what I expected which wasn't too awful. That said the chunk they took out of my bonus was well and truly brutal, that stung.

What's a "bonus"?

If it's from the IRS it's a "bone us".
I get hosed every year.. I sent an email to my accountant on monday asking if she had a ballpark.... Told me she's working on it.
I kid you not. I once made less than poverty line, and owed $. Yes it is damn possible.
This was way before online tax companies can download the trading data.
I had to manually write pages and pages of D-1.
Now, it takes <2 minutes to do all that online.
I really thought I was going to get ahead last year, wrong. I tripled my quarterly payments through the year and still just wrote a check for additional 5K to send in with my return. I sure hope I get some kind of break this year. I just sent in my first quarterly this year and it is five times what I sent two years ago per quarter. Yes taxes suck!

I hope to have to do the same this year, but it's tough when you've made almost zero dollars in the entire first quarter!
Yep, first time filing married. Together we got about 1/2 of what we got last year separate total.

My first quarter this year is right at half of what I did all last year, so hoping it lasts all year. Fingers crossed.

Sounds like you're giving the .gov way too much $$ in interest free loans throughout the year.

What one gets back this year they take next one. If they've taken this year, they'll figure out a way to get more next.
We can thank the great society the D's started in the 60's
More like 1913 when the BS, unconstitutional income tax was passed.
