View Full Version : Vigilante Students in WA
I admire their motives, but they are going about it all wrong.

that one kid is going to shoot his dick off carrying his handgun shoved in his pants like that.
I also wonder if either can even come close to hitting what they're aiming at. I hope if anyone gets hurt its a bad guy.

get those dummies some iwb holsters... at the very least...
Seriously, no holsters?
One of them has the gun I have.
Recall the recent gang rape while others observed? This involved fifteen bad guys
Being armed even for small crippled weak citizens enables them to fight off bad peoples.
We can't count on the government to protect us or are families when the SHTF.
Counting on a shifting allegiances of government workers is dangerous.
How many of you would encourage your own kid to start a facebook page, get some video footage for the judge, and say things like "I don't know if it's illegal to do....." before they go looking for trouble?
"According to the UW Daily Newspaper, there have been ten assaults and robberies in the area in just the past two months."
Wow. Forget that place!
Very scary how they keep showing them cock the unloaded handgun while they are talking. Reminder to self: don't cock my gun for B film if I'm ever in that situation.

"It is illegal to carry a concealed handgun on college campuses in Washington."
Tell the bad guys where people WON'T be carrying...nice.
'People who carry weapons feel less vulnerable and are likely to put themselves in bad situations.'
WTF?!?
Anyone else enraged by this comment from someone sworn to protect and serve? Should we just continue to be unarmed, scared and hopeful that nothing happens and if it does there's an officer of the law nearby if/when it does.
Quite the opposite. When I started carrying I now go out of my way to avoid any and all types of confrontation. I don't go to bars anymore and used to go all the time. I'm more aware of my surroundings and what could be a bad situation because I don't want to have to shoot anyone. I think that the responsibility that comes with carrying a firearm tends to make people MORE careful and NOT less careful.
I was just irked by this line from the guy with the badge because it supports the thoughts of the tree huggers watching this thinking that arming yourself to protect yourself is wrong. There's not a damn thing wrong with what these kids are doing (aside from needing a quality holster and some more safety training) and good for them because they're taking a stance against crime and letting criminals know that their thievery will be met with deadly force as it should. They don't care about laws but they do care about pain and death to some extent and if they don't then we won't miss them anyway.

You don't have to be a college graduate to draw a correlation here.

They clearly already know. If I was a career robber I would go to where the least probability of being shot exists too.

I appreciate cops and what they do, but I won't carry one, they're too heavy. My Glock's under 24 oz.[Beer]

Exactly.
It just bugs me that tree huggers all have this horrible misconception of firearms and what they can do and these same people think that LEOs aren't human beings. They actually believe they are of different genetics and are somehow perfect in every way and when you dial 911 one of those super humans will be at your side within 3 seconds of dialing the number to make everything alright. For one of these supposed super humans to lend credibility that people who possess and carry firearms are somehow part of the problem just pisses me off. [Bang]
It reminds me of the 'Well, she was dressed like that so she deserved to get raped' comment. So, because I carry a firearm it's MY fault if someone gets shot attempting to rob me? What about the rapists and robbers? At what point do THEY get held accountable for their actions? [Rant1]
Exactly.

I carry, because when seconds count, the police are only minutes away. Cops do a job I don't envy, but their role is not really to prevent crime(except as a vague deterrent), but rather to apprehend the suspects after a crime has been comitted.
I am 100% on your side with this one Jer!!!
I appreciate and respect what LEO's do and praise(most of) them for doing it, but your right, unfortunately they can not be to most crime scenes fast enough. The objective of a robber is to get in and get out as QUICK AS POSSIBLE, usually only seconds.
I'm sure this has been said and discussed before, but the laws that the government continues to try and pass will only hurt the honest law abiding citizen. The drunk, drugged up crack head that is gonna kill someone to steal there money to by there next high, doesnt really care much if he gets pinched for carrying.....IMO if more of us carried, maybe there would be a few less bad guys out there.

Let me explain why I said "most" here. My EX brother-in-law was a cop for like 20 years and was one of the biggest crooks I have ever come across in my life, he's in jail now and will be for some time.....that being said, I absolutely respect LEO's and what they do, but some seem to think they have a golden ticket, and a free get out of jail card. Those are the ones that disgust me. [Rant1]
Ok, rant over.

I appreciate what these students are doing. They are taking personal responsibility for their saftey and security as well as that of the community. I do wish they would invest in some decent holsters for their weapons and I hope they will seek firearms training. That one kid is in danger of shooting his balls off...
I wholeheartedly support law enforcement officers. I think they have about the toughest job out there. That said, it IS NOT their responsibility to protect us as individuals, only to protect society as a whole. I think a criminal would be less inclined to continue attacks on a group of people who arm themselves and let it be known they will use deadly force as necessary to defend life and limb. Where I have a problem with law enforcement is in the response of some of them to this type of activity.
To the officer who asserts that armed citizens would be more likely to place themselves in dangerous situations, I would ask why is that a bad thing? Think about it.. Imagine how things might have turned out differently if even one of the teachers at Columbine had been armed, or if even one of the passengers on the hijacked planes on 9/11 would have been armed.. I believe, as a man, as a citizen, and as a Christian, I have a moral obligation to protect women, children, and those weaker than me from predators of all types. Thats not to say I advocate frequenting seedy bars and bad parts of town looking for trouble, but when trouble finds me, by situation or circumstance, then it becomes MY responsibility to deal with it to the best of my ability with what ever means are most appropriate. This could be calling the police if, for example, I was to witness a burglery in progress. It could mean breaking a guys arm to stop him from beating the crap out of his girlfriend (done it), or, it could mean putting a .45 caliber hollow point through a psychopath's head to stop him from mowing down a school full of kids..
God willing, I don't ever want to be in that type of situation, but I find it best to be a good Boyscout and be prepared...

reminds me of a guy I used to work with.
Hick from Tennessee, with a capitol H. sounded like boomhauer from king of the hill when he spoke.
thought that guns should be illegal, because (I kid you not) he didn't trust himself not to get pissed off and shoot someone if he had one.
I feel like setting aside a few bucks to send for legal fees when these kids get into trouble with the law. I'm with them in spirit, but they are going about it the wrong way. IMO.

GreenScoutII, good to hear that I am not the only one who appreciates what these young guys are doing. Is their execution perfect? No. They could obviously use a bit more training and some holsters (I was amused by that).
The positive message here is that not everyone is a gutless liberal even in a state getting overrun with and taken over by gutless liberal politicians.
These guys have courage to confront armed criminals. Good for them. As for walking around in bad areas, great. Are we supposed to keep only to nice, clean neighborhoods? They have the right to walk anywhere they want at any time. I wish them well.

Sturtle, glad to see more positive words for these guys (well, mostly)..
These guys deserve a hand, maybe some training from a good instructor out there...
While I agree in principal with what they are doing(taking an active role in the prevention of crime), it appears they are trolling for trouble, which is a bad idea, IMO. If they shoot and kill someone, after making that video, there is a significant chance that they are on the hook for 1st degree murder, even if the dead guy is a career criminal. At the very least, they're gonna be facing a legal battle. Sad, because somehow our society has placed the rights of the criminals ahead of the rights of their victims.
Rule #1: The best fight is the one that never happens
Rule #2: If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck
