Brief synopsis/disclaimer; this is not my rifle. I am an Associate director in case management for Medicaid Waiver services for people with Intellectual / Developmental disabilities, my agency is the Community Center Board for Adams county. We have an Individual in services, who is also through our residential agency (Adult foster care.) This person's late father willed him a rifle; Winchester model 06 pump action .22 short/long. It is in really clean condition except for the stock which has a crack in it. (See pics below, warning not the greatest)

The individual doesn't really understand what it is and has expressed to just get rid of it. The Residential director was going to give it away to a gun smithing college or have it destroyed, but I had concerns that this rifle may be worth something and the individual nor the director understands its value and the person could be losing monetary value. They agreed to see if I could find a buyer for it.

Some updated info on the rifle.

It is round barrel
The patents on the barrel latest date is May 20, 1911
It has a 12 line fluted forearm
Straight smooth stock
SS# is 5***20 on tang and front receiver

Stock has a crack through it, visible on both sides and the butt plate broken off on the bottom end
It has been well cleaned / oiled
Pump action is super smooth
rifling, hard to tell, I don't have a bore light, but what I can see it is smooth and clean.

I am placing it in the for sale section as well, but if you have thoughts of its value please PM me and let me know.

Figure out which model it is specifically, as that will help.

Looks like a Standard Model 1906. Seeing prices for the same model ranging from $300 - $1200 depending on condition.

It is an 06 or a 1906 22 cal. Winchester pump. These were the improved action pump that Winchester produced to replace the 1890. The 90 would only work with one cartridge length such as short only, long only or long rifle only. The 06 will cycle short, long and long rifle. There are a number of slight variations such as wood types. In the 06 Winchester began using hardwoods in place of walnut stocks, yet walnut was still offered. Most 06’s had the round barrel. In the pictures of yours it looks to be missing most of the blue. A cracked stock is going to diminish the value, not easy to replace without going with a reproduction. The bore could be dark or pitted do to the corrosive powders and primers back in the day. I bought an 06 from Cabela’s 18 months ago and it is fully functioning, has 75% blue left, a shiny pit free bore and the wood is all crack free, for $300. However just recently the same Cabela’s had another 06 that was not much different than mine and was priced at $500.

Without knowing if it functions it is likely not worth not much more than $300 to $350 on the high side. And if non-functioning it would likely become a parts gun and worth maybe $150 to $200. I have a small (7) collection of pump 22’s, and would have some interest in seeing it to evaluate it’s condition and viability to be returned to function. If you provide the serial number the year of production can be determined.

I would agree with the above value assessments around $300 -$400, if properly functional. My father used to collect Winchester pumps. At the time of his death he had over 60 including a number of 06s. I learned a lot from him and from selling the guns with the cash going to my mother. I kept only one, as agreed with my father, the one he earned as a boy by helping a farmer build fence for three days in 1932.

Blue Book of Gun Values would be a god reference and adjust as needed based on factors as discussed above.

Thanks for all of your help.

I have the rifle in hand now, to see if I can move it this weekend.

I did some updates on the main post.
