View Full Version : an ArmsList miracle
I pulled off two deals on ArmsList at the same time at the same place today. Somehow exactly the two things I was looking for showed up at the same time. Both guys were straight up with good prices and had what they said they had. I'm still in shock. I wish I could give them feedback. I should go buy a bunch of lottery tickets.

I may be cursing myself, but I have had zero issues with Armslist deals. Everyone I have ever dealt with has been great.
Hell, I have even caught some of you goons on there... (been busted a few times myself [Coffee])
Isn't there a Patron Saint of internet deals? I bet CavScout knows.

Stuff like this is why I only deal strictly with Arms List.
Told you.

Not "internet deals", but:
St. Lucy is the patron saint of salesmen.
St. Isidore of Seville is the (unofficial) patron of the internet/computer users/techs/programmers/students.

For the most part, my Armslist.com deals that I actually am able to put together go just fine. However, getting to the meet up and do the deal can sometimes be a challenge. Overall It goes well. The shooting community is pretty good people for the most part.
Bingo! Found a great example of what I was after earlier this week on there. Good price, getting it tomorrow, M&P Pro 9mm woohoo! A few years ago I made some sales on Armslist-all went well.
Told you.

From a previous thread.
You guys are lucky though. I've had far more bad experiences from armslist than good. I've run into scams a few times. Had a lot of people just ghost me. Trying to sell is the worst, I've never heard more laughable offers in my life. To have two deals happen so smoothly at once was refreshing for me. I actually told both guys they should join the forum.

Armslist + dumped girlfriend = 720 rds of Wolf 7.62x39 for $25 with .50 cal Ammo can for me!!!
I've had good luck selling on Armslist. The only issues I've had are low ballers, I just ignore these people. A lot of people on Armslist don't understand what a firm price is.
I got a sweet deal on Armslist about a month ago.
$1150 for a Benelli M4.
. 74470
Completed the deal on the M&P Pro-exactly as described, excellent condition and a great seller-though cbi was running a bit slow. Pic up when I get home.

It's not just Armslist, it's everywhere. I could list a Colt Python tomorrow on this very site for $10 and I'd get PM's asking "would you take three bucks?".
Would you? Because I've got three dollars on me right now and would make a deal. But ONLY if you could meet me 29/32 of the way to my place.

I've had pretty decent luck on Armslist...better buying than selling for a lot of reasons already mentioned. Mostly it's because people suck.
First gun I sold here was a Taurus PT-111 NIB that I got on a trade but didn't want. I listed it for $200 as that's what they go for...but it was a private sale so no BGC or tax. Guy from near Coeur d'Alene calls, offers me a low-ball price to which I said "no". He then agrees to the $200 if I'll deliver. "No". So then he says he'll drive to Lewiston and we meet.
Then he says, "Oh crap. I only brought $190...I thought I had $200." I told him that's too bad cause that's a long drive to go home empty handed. Then the other $10 miraculously appeared in his "other" pocket. I told him to pack sand and have a nice drive back to CDA. He got all pissy and said he was gonna "black list" me on Armslist. Fuckin' stupid people. Sold it the next day on Armslist for $190 to a very nice young lady who wasn't an idiot.
I've sold 4 or 5 since without any issues.
I got so many terms and condition list on top of the description. This basically filters out 90% of stupid idiots.
There are always stupid idiots who still try to hagglexplain or try to FLAKE.
One of my term is have BUYER arrange (appt)an FFL my my choosing.

Is this still available?
I've gotten the whole "I don't live in Colorado anymore, I'm in insert some random place now", they want me to send money to some PO Box and promise I'll get my item. I have no idea how they think it's going to work. I have to assume some sucker falls for it if people are out there running the scam. When I used to try to sell items there I'd get offers of 100 crappy items for something I'm trying to sell for $2k. Hey I'll trade you 10 Taurus 9mm pistols, 5 Saturday night specials and some old baseball cards for your SCAR. I've had quite a few illegal offers too. I've been offered weed, coke and illegal full auto stuff.
I've had pretty good luck on Armslist for the three guns I bought. A minty Walther TPH in 22 with an extra mag. A Smith and Wesson 622 and a minty Smith and Wesson 63... I use a USPS Money Order so I can sic the Postal Inspectors if it goes south.
Is this still available?
Next email would be:
Dear sir:
I just went to Europe for business trip. Since you are holding the gun, I will send you $200 more on money order........

Well I did it, cursed myself. The last two armslist deals have turned out to be a bust. Emailed a guy on an AK a few weeks ago and he declined my offer. A week later, he asks me if I am still interested and he would accept my offer since he needed the cash. The next morning, I run to the ATM to pull the cash and he sends me a message that he is going to keep it after all.. not quite a big deal but none the less, a welsh.
This one last Friday really chaps my ass. Found another AK that the guy is looking to trade for an AR. I emailed, fast response, send him some pics and we make an agreement. We pick a time and place to meet the same day and exchange phone numbers. I call him 15min prior to let him know that I am running a few minutes late and it rings three times and goes to VM. I send a text because this area has bad reception and my iMessages are now showing green. I show up to the agreed upon location and he is no show. Call him off my work phone and it rings all the way through like normal but goes to VM. At this point, I realize he blocked my number on my personal phone and deleted his ad with no notice. I was going to let it go since we were only meeting 10 minutes from my house (he didn't know that) but he didn't even have the balls to tell me he decided to go a different direction with it. I sent him a nasty email to explain to him how important it was on keeping your word. I had a far worse deal on Colorado Gun Market (yeah, who remembers those days?) so this won't stop me from using AL. Just annoying that people have no honor anymore.

Damn, what a dick move. I can't understand why people can't just either (a) keep their word, or (b) have the guts to tell you that they are backing out.

Love it when you're about to sell something on Armslist then when you mention needing to meet at an FFL you don't hear back from the guy lol
I can't even work up the effort to block scammer calls.

Can’t blame them for trying lol

I rencently sold a carbine case on armslist. He came to pickup. He paid and left. It took about 30 seconds. :D
It is so much easier to sell non-firearm stuff.
C&R items are easy to sell also. Seems like more and more of my stuff are c&r. Guess i am getting too old.

Well luck have it, AL redeemed itself. Had a recent transaction that went as smooth as they come.
I think they are starting to filter out those generic fraud/scam email better than even 6 month ago.
I Rarely Get Those type of emails.
