Does anybody out there know or would recommend a place/breeder for a chocolate lab? I currently have a black lab and he is getting up there in age and I want to get a new dog started for upland and duck hunting .
Thanks.

Chocolates are the black sheep of the labs. Most hard core Lab breeders/owners like backs and yellows for hunting dogs.

With that in mind, my Chocolate is a hunting machine and my black could not give a rats ass.

My black lab is a machine, I had a choc a couple years ago and he got cancer- had to put him down.... broke my heart, I really miss that dog. I guess that is why I am looking for new one. A lot of breeders want up to $600.00 for a dog. I get it but man in this days economy that money is hard to come by anymore.

So you just want the dog right? You are not interested in getting one that is already trained? I asked a friend that knows about this stuff on your behalf. I'm waiting to hear what he comes back with.

Sorry, the breader I went to has apparently moved out of state. If I hear of anything I let you know, though.

Hey,

I'm generally a sceptic of "free" labs, but since he has a Weimar also maybe there are some huting lines in the Chocolate. Might be worth a call.
