I found this to be very interesting. Back in the 90s Gary Kleck, famous gun researcher, completed a study that found Americans used a firearm in a defensive situation over 2 million times per year. His study has been widely criticized by anti-gunners since it was published. They've gone to great lengths trying to discredit him and his research.

Well, it just so happens the CDC also completed a study in 1996 - 1998 that asked those sampled: "During the last 12 months, have you confronted another person with a firearm, even if you did not fire it, to protect yourself, your property, or someone else?"

Even more interesting is the results were very similar to Kleck's...and the CDC never published or reported the results. I'm shocked. Not.

I'm under the impression that the CDC has not been allowed to conduct gun studies. You hear that thrown around all the time in gun control debates. Do you know if that blockage was what prevented the study from being published?

Edit: looks like my question is answered in the very first few sentences of the article. Shame they never published.

Interesting indeed. Probably more out there than we know.

No way...the government is being political?

Even with their left leaning bias, the CDC was unable to show that the Clinton AWB had any effect on gun violence or crime. They said the data was inconclusive.

Never go against a Sicilian when death is on the line.
