Oklahoma senators approve allowing gun carry without permits By Morgan Gstalter (http://thehill.com/author/morgan-gstalter) - 05/03/18 10:15 AM EDT

Oklahoma state senators meet late on Wednesday night to approve a bill that allows adults to carry guns without a license.
The Tulsa World reported (http://www.tulsaworld.com/news/capitol_report/constitutional-carry-senate-uses-late-night-session-to-pass-bill/article_af094a36-e26f-5495-aef2-9263eac6afa0.html) that the measure passed 33-9 on a vote just before 11 p.m. after it was added to the agenda late in the afternoon.

The “constitutional carry” bill allows people who are 21 or older and military personnel who are 18 and older to carry a firearm without a permit.
The bill’s author, state Sen. Nathan Dahm (R), said it does not change current laws that prohibit guns from being taken to elementary schools, colleges, universities and government buildings.

Democrats questioned whether they should allow people with no training or who are not responsible enough to get the permit to carry firearms.
People are required to get a license to drive a car, state Sen. Kevin Matthews (D) pointed out.
Dahm responded by saying the Second Amendment guarantees a constitutional right to bear arms — not drive a car.

State Sen. Kay Floyd (D) said legislators were not able to properly vet changes to the bill made in the House before the late vote.
“A major policy change should not be made at 10:45 p.m. in the evening a few days before sine die,” Floyd said, referring to the end of session.

The bill now heads to the desk of Gov. Mary Fallin (R).

Gov Fallin is expected to sign it.

All right! Yay for my home state!

Now if I could just drive there with my Colorado plates and not worry about being searched and having drug dogs sniffing my ass...... Not that they'd find anything, but the Colorado plates being a target and automatic stop is such bullshit.

It's probably not nearly as bad as you think.

Well, I'd love to go visit my brothers and friends and take some of my cool toys and ammo along to go do some shooting, but as long as OK LEO's have a hardon for CO vehicles, that's a no-go. Next trip to OK I'll be travelling light as a feather.

I used to have the same worry driving through Kansas and Nebraska in the middle of the night, but never had a problem.

From the full article:

"The state bureau of investigation, which issues handgun licenses, had opposed the bill, saying it would cost the agency about $4.7 million annually and result in the loss of about 60 full-time positions."

I find that awfully hard to believe. And translation? "Your rights being trampled on make us money."

Go work in the oil fields, faggots.

Proof that the "jacket tax" has nothing to do with public safety.

Sad.

On the upside, the gubernatorial candidates all seem to be in favor and were positive about the bill. Hopefully next year Oklahoma can cut the horn off the RINO stranglehold. According to an Oklahoma contact she was trailing another candidate before that moron Sarah Palin swooped in to campaign for her. I feel like there should be a strict law against that, wherein politics follow a strict mode of subsidiarity, e.g., no outside interference. So state can only have state influence, etc. I bet we’d see the real state of local and state politics real quick.

Watch out, Sarah Palin is a hero on this website.

If you haven’t noticed, I’m frequently willing to take staunch and unpopular positions. :)

So you favor the 2A but not so much the 1st. And Palin is the moron? (Happy, Irving?)

ETA: And I find it very ironic that you're advocating for no "outside influence" in elections while you're in CO and referring to an election in OK.
