As being reported by those in the area. "Looking at it right now from across the valley. I can see flames about the level of the trees. They need to catch this fast."

I've never started a fire shooting but I suppose I'll start packing a fire extinguisher when I shoot in the mountains.

A shovel, McCloud and or Pulaski will be much more effective on a brush fire.
I don't want to know how shitty the feeling is of burning down someone's home.
This is awful. I shoot in the mountains at one of the generally agreed upon spots and have not run into this issue yet (knock on wood), but fuck me if I'm not super paranoid about it happening. Hopefully they get it under control ASAP before it does any more damage.

with the lack of moisture this winter, we are sure to see a lot of this, this summer. [emoji20]
People need to be vigilant and extra careful when shooting up in the mountains.
Really hope they get this under control before it becomes a raging inferno like what happened in Creede back in 2013.

Regardless of fire conditions, you can be sure that Bubba and Cleetus will always head to the hills with an ample supply of tracers, steel cores, bi-metal jackets and tannerite.

Swatting flames with small Regen trees or branches is surprisingly effective.
^^ keeping a shovel / Pulaski axe on hand is always good practice too

I am going to go buy a pulaski axe... not that I really need one, don't shoot out in the wild much, but it seems like something every real man should own.

I've found a Pulaski to be very handy both at home (chopping up roots on big trees) as well as when camping (use it to split logs for campfires.)

Back in the day, he may have been the Polish guy down the street. His name was Ed (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed_Pulaski). A Polish guy that invented a heckuva tool (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulaski_(tool)).

Another fire there today. It was small and is contained now, but damn.

If you were planning on shooting it's banned. Even on private property. http://parkco.us/DocumentCenter/View/4822/2018-06-28-Fire-Ban-Update
I read exception #3 would allow target shooting, as it's a designated area authorized by the sheriff for target shooting. But I could be wrong.

Sheriff has been handing out $1000 tickets to anyone shooting anything other than plain lead so I doubt they would make exceptions.

Went there yesterday, was told by a Sheriff no shooting. Even though the Sheriffs were shooting there. It was OK took a trip over Guanella pass and had a beer at Georgetown

Sheriffs bullets are a magical cold alloy. Only peasant bullets start fires.
