A couple in Colorado looking to sell their dream home were horrified to discover that their property was nearly destroyed at the hands of a prospective buyer.
'I mean, there was just no words… the feces and the urine spread all over our white cabinets, all over our hardwood floor, it was even on the ceiling – 10-foot ceilings,' said Jenny Fisch, the homeowner.
Late last year, Jenny and Paul Fisch put their El Paso County home on the market for $450,000, according to Fox affiliate KMGH 6. (http://fox6now.com/2018/05/11/couple-says-would-be-homebuyers-smeared-feces-caused-40k-in-damage/)

More at link.

I would never, ever, ever "rent" a home to prospective buyers. That takes 3 months of potential buyers out of the equation and opens it up to exactly what they experienced.

I think the accurate phrase here is.... “you can’t fix stupid”

With how hot the market is in CO, I’m amazed anyone would accept terms detailing a three month rental before purchase.....

I wonder how many of their friends told them that was a bad idea.

People say you can't fix stupid.

I say you can. But it's either really expensive or illegal.

Yep. The really inexpensive way is frowned upon in the legal community.

I wonder if they'd trade me a bridge for that house.

Fail of epic proportion.
Why the hell would you ever entertain such a transaction?

Stupid games - stupid prizes and all that.

When I was selling my last house a member of the gun community who runs a couple of ranges wanted to rent our house. I had already told the agent I would NEVER rent, but they asked anyway. Then they asked if I would trade the house for silver coins. Needless to say, I want going to trade a house for coins unless it was at spot type prices. I dont need coins that are collectible that he cant liquidate. Then I wouldnt be able to liquidate them. I would maybe have done it if value was just precious metal content value.

Good Lord, did they think it was a Craigslist transaction?
Can I give you a bitcoin, a 2002 Honda Civic, some cash, and some Buffalo Nickels? Uhh, no, you can give me a really big check.

In the article, it has a pic of the husband wearing a shirt with AR-15 outlines. I wonder if he is a member on here?

I know the owners might have been a bit naive. What does this say about the overall tone of society? This would not have happened in the 50's. I've heard tons of stories about renters, and it seems the laws are in favor of these dirt bags.

It would be nice to think people were trust worthy and in the mood to do the right thing. Maybe it's part of the "don't judge" mindset. What I do know is many people have no shame.

And I know its a "civil matter", but holy cow the law needs to have some real consequence for them. You know they have no money.

Takeaway... don't own rental properties.

I think there is a difference between people who are looking for a rental, and people who ask to rent something that is for sale. What that difference is, I couldn't tell you.

I sleep better at night no longer having concern about a rental property. People suck. If you don't think people can do this, you aren't watching the news and lack imagination.

I just sold one that was a nightmare. I have another, but have some of the best tenants in the world. I usually receive one call a month to ask where I want my money. One time he called and asked if I would purchase a new set of kitchen cabinet he found for a great deal. For $1000, he completely remodeled the kitchen and added cabinets to the laundry room. I do give him a discount on rent once in a while, and haven't raised it in 6 years. He has almost completely renovated the house at almost no cost to me. What more could I ask for, other than him to just buy the house from me.

Rental property owners occasionally get together and trade horror stories.
One couple rented a house out for 30 years to a hard-working family on the West Slope.
The renters paid for the house in full, provided a monthly cash flow to the owners, and did all the repairs as if they owned it.
The owners offered to sell it to them below market value as a thank you.
The renters moved out the next day leaving the house in perfect condition.
You just never know.

I followed this on fb and one of the news channels had an article up. People were posting the scumbags facebook profiles, pictures and the female had just bonded out of jail on 5/10/2018 (unrelated offense) and they had a screenshot of it up. The female may be active duty military but not verified (it does list it on her fb page).

I'd post it up, but I'm not sure the rules on posting personally identifying info of non-members.

She had a whole litter of newborn pups and kittens in that house.

I kinda dont feel sorry for the sellers...with so many qualified buyers out there...they chose to be stupid with a couple whose credit score was questionable to begin with and the lender wanted them to bring it up before approving the loan 100%.

The sellers realtor failed them big time and should have 100% advised against this.

EPCS is saying its a civil matter, not criminal. Trash a $450,000 home and you walk away scott free. geez.

if one of the parties is active duty, then their command should be contacted. I’d suggest not doxxing people on here without mod approval.
