Apple Inc. (https://www.bloomberg.com/quote/AAPL:US) Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook waded into divisive political topics such as gun control and immigration during a commencement speech while continuing his criticisms of internet companies over a lack of user privacy.

Speaking at Duke University, where he graduated (http://www.dukechronicle.com/article/2018/05/apple-ceo-tim-cook-to-deliver-commencement-speech-sunday) from business school 30 years ago, Cook urged the students to reject the status quo and be fearless.

"Fearless like the students of Parkland, Florida, who refuse to be silent about the epidemic of gun violence and have rallied millions to their cause," Cook said to rousing applause. "Fearless like the women who say ‘metoo’ and ‘Time’s Up.’ Women who cast light into dark places and move us to a more just and equal future. Fearless like those who fight for the rights of immigrants, who understand that our only hope for the future is one that embraces all who want to contribute."
Who knew that Apple and those in management were lefties? Everyone.

Oh, and grouping with the like-minded herd isn't "fearlessness".

I adhere to a strict #NBA policy. Never Buy Apple.

Apple is just one of those companies that piss me off for some reason.

Although I'm sure there are a few here that talk a lot about boycotting businesses, but won't give up their iphones.

After sitting in almost any US college for four plus years, nonsense and ignorance being spouted by anyone at a graduation ceremony is like sprinkling powdered sugar on a bowl full of syrup.

I wonder how many armed security guards are employed by Apple and their vendors? Be fearless...travel armed.

I'm not sure if that's a 'thing' in the gay community.

Kevin Spacey?

Now that you mention it, could be. I was pretty sure the #MeToo (https://metoomvmt.org/) movement was focused on women, particularly 'women of color', but it seems like they're expanding;

Our goal is to reframe and expand the global conversation around sexual violence to speak to the needs of a broader spectrum of survivors. Young people, queer, trans, and disabled folks, Black women and girls, and all communities of color. We want perpetrators to be held accountable and we want strategies implemented to sustain long term, systemic change.

Metoo was never focused on minorities that I remember.

I spent over a year trying to get an APP for APEX Gun Parts approved for I-Tunes.
I had APPLE reps call me to explain that they were not anti-gun, but there was no way we could conform to their standards.
I think we caught them on the right day to finally make it in!

#MeToo

Friend posted a great meme, something along the lines of "Many people still refer to it as the pound sign. Thus, your tag for focusing on sexual harassment is pound me too."

I could go on and on about the different tech related companies that support gun control, if you boycotted them all, you would have little or no tech.

One day, I will be tech free, but for now its which that feeds the family

In all fairness the first app I tried to get approved was denied about 10 times before it got in. It wasn't anything I was doing personally, was built for the company I worked for. They were denying us for things being one pixel to the left or a slight shade of red too dark. Eventually some VP at our company called some VP at apple they knew and it got approved. They're apparently better about it these days ... that was like 8-9 years ago.

I am an Apple fan (not a fanboy). That said, I have never bought new from Apple. I've bought refurbished from a local shop, refurb from eBay or from people on this board. That said, I started with PC based 'puters. Worked at the #1 pc company.

At the end of the day, Mac works for me.

Showing their ass on the 2A, very sad. I don't get why corps have to now come down on party lines. I hope all get bit in the ass.

Our APP developer had plenty of other client APPS already in I-Tunes.
Our APP was already in GOOGLE-PLAY.
The first couple of interactions were about technical details, and we cleared those hurdles.
When the response went to "NO" without any sort of way ahead the developer called me.
We pressed hard for some answers and then the APPLE people called my desk to explain how they were NOT anti 2A, but to STOP asking to be on I-Tunes.
Of course we just waited them out, and now we have an I-Tunes APP.
However, you cannot buy thru it directly, like with our GOOGLE-PLAY APP.
Its a small victory, and I hope to improve in the future.

Even Steam can't get an app into the app store.

Can i take a crap with an app?You don't need an app. Millennials would probably be entirely lost if they had a problem that couldn't be solved by their phone.

Eh, I'm a millenial, and I bash on my kind all the time. I figure the good ones know they're an exception and ignore it.

The idea that one generation is better or worse than another generation is total bullshit, and had been since the beginning of time. It's an idea pursued by those whom are just as dumb as they imagine the people they are complaining about.

I'm nor sure it's about better or worse, but rather what societal fads and current technology are at the time...and the various opinions about it maybe. Just a thought.
