Like they'd never abuse it. CA once again shows how fuked legal gun owners are.

U.S.California Moves To Let Schools, Co-workers 'Red Flag' Dangerous G
Lawmakers in the California Assembly voted Monday to advance a bill that would authorize employers, co-workers and school personnel to request the temporary confiscation of guns from individuals determined to pose a danger to themselves or others.
The legislation, AB 2888 (https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billTextClient.xhtml?bill_id=201720180AB2888), would build on California’s existing “red flag” law
Surely this won't be abused.
How is this different than any other red flag law?

I believe other red flag laws only allow immediate relatives to flag you, this new law.pretty much allows anyone to flag you.

How is this different than any other red flag law?
By greatly increasing the number of people that can decide you shouldn't have guns... Earlier ones were family members and law enforcement (I think)...
Schools? The same schools that already tried to punish a student who simply went shooting at a nice safe controlled range with his father? And co-workers? I'd bet everyone has some crazy/bitchy/asshole co-worker who would report you in a second and lie to make you sound like the crazy one.
And what did those other laws do to prevent someone who isn't your immediate family member from contacting the police?
So, all firearms owners will be red flagged?

Just wait for it, someone in a red flag state will red flag someone in another state, and that person will all of a sudden be a prohibited person.
Just cause I am paranoid, doesn’t mean they aren’t out to get me
I've seen some nasty divorces. Ones where there were accusations of domestic violence, abuse and on and on. The cops get involved and someone has to go to jail. Add this fuel to the fire and I don't see a good outcome.
Some of these shooters had ample red flags and nothing was done. Seems like another way to abuse the system with law abiding citizens.

That’s exactly what it is, a back door. Everything to deal with active shooters is already in place and unused.

And what did those other laws do to prevent someone who isn't your immediate family member from contacting the police?
That was what I read in the CO law. People close to the person and LEOs. I guess they could say that LEOs is only when they come into contact with someone, but when someone goes to the local LEO and complains about someone, what would happen- especially in progressive jurisdictions. Considering how the label of 'racist' is thrown around now-a-days, I don't see that ending well.
All while we ignore people with multiple run ins with the law and don't follow up on failed BGCs.
Puts a damper on the cleaning of the guns when the daughters date shows up. Back to showing him the shovel and a bag of lime in the garage.
ETA:
Ting pointed to the February massacre in Parkland, Florida, as a case in which a red flag law ― and specifically this sort of broader statute ― might have been able to save lives.
Mucking Foron.
In 2016, Ting filed a similar bill to broaden California’s red flag law, following the mass shooting in San Bernardino (https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/san-bernardino-shooting_us_565f4613e4b072e9d1c464e9), which began at an office holiday party.
Uhm, that wasn't a Red Flag issue, that was all about the Black Standard ISIS flag.
