Trying to sell my car, someone asked if I had a carfax report; I didnt realize they were so expensive. $40 for one. Does anyone have unlimited reports, or recommend a cheaper alternative?

I don't have a VIN handy to test it, but I recall this being what I used. 100% free, same info. You can only run so many in a day per internet connection.

Just tried it out on an old truck of mine... It didn't show ownership transfers, didn't show 2 accidents, both of which where handled thru insurance.

It appears to simply use the VIN to determine manufacturer information: make/model, when/where made, original MSRP, generic recall info (none of the ones listed affected my vehicle), warranty expiration (just based on the manufacturers original published warranty terms)
