So my dumb neighbout drops my AR from about 1ft onto concrete. It landed square on the muzzle.

Ok so call me paranoid but wanted any comments on whether it'll be fine. No scratches or anything but it was too lat ein the day to fire it. Like I say I maybe paranoid.

Not that it makes any difference(?) but its a Colt 6920.

Any advice appreciated. Beating my neighbour is unfortunatley not an option albeit tempting.

Sorry about your rifle being dropped. Does your Colt have a flash hider? I'm not familiar with it by model number. I would say as long as the impact didn't damage the crown of the muzzle, you're probably OK.. I'm just thinking that AR's are decended (sp?) from the M-16. As such, I'm sure its plenty tough enough to survive such a thing as a military rifle is likely to see some abuse in it's life.

Just my thoughts though!

Should be fine. post pictures.
barrel is threaded in there and a 1 ft drop should in no way damage that thing. if so, then you need to post in on ar15.com and let all the "colt is the only way" zombies hear about it.

only thing you might consider replacing is the A2 flash hider which is no more than $10. if there isn't any damage to that, then don't worry about it.
shoot it and make sure it still holds a tight group. post results.

Thanks for the advice.

Here's some pics. The flash makes it look embarrassingly filthy:(

Dumb neighbor?! The guy is a genius! He's just trying to get you to think it is damaged so you throw it away and he can grab it out of your trash next Tuesday.

If it's a Colt, Chances are all the parts are spec.. So should be no problem..

Can't really tell anything from the pic's.. Looks good as far as I can tell..
As long as a pebble didn't get lodged in the barrel,, You should be good.

Who was the yahoo on arfcom a couple of years ago that threw his brand new AR down the driveway to, in his words: "Give it that used look." Or, at least said He did...

I've seen a M4, while loaded dropped and rolled of a side of a mountain for about 25 or so feet, when we recovered it, pistol grip got mangled, buttstock latch broke off, thing looked like a general wreck. the CCO and M4 were still functional.

Thats why you never let ANYONE touch your firearms. It looks fine from the pics.

Dude, it's fine. If that freaked you out, you really don't want to know how I abused my issued M-4's over the last couple of years. If you have a descent scope on it, I doubt the drop would even be enough to knock it off of zero.

If that's the worst thing that ever happens to it, consider yourself lucky.

I met a guy about selling my Sigma pistol...he brought his buddy with him...his buddy managed to release the slide to field strip it, right onto an asphalt parking lot[Tooth]

The guy I was meeting with said "Well, I guess now I GOTTA buy it!"

Slightly off topic, but this reminds me of a performer that I once met that had a "gunslinging act" in which he could spin, flip, throw and just about everything else you can imagine using two old west style revolvers. He did so with amazing precision. The guy was unbelievably skilled and put on one helluva show.
The part that was even harder to believe was what he used as his old west pistols...
He was using a pair of actual nickel plated, engraved Colts!! He did his act over asphalt fairgrounds, etc. Imagine that.. Yes, somehow the pistols were both in beautiful condition!

Thanks for all your feedback. Like I said maybe I'm paranoid.

If any of you go up Left Hand and see a bald guy and a 7 yr with a Colt chances are that's me and my son:)

He decided yesterday that he really needs a handgun as the Colt is a bit heavy for him, so promptly amended his Christmas list when we got home. Needless to say the wife was not impresssed!

The front sling would let go while solders were marching. The rifle would spin around and land muzzle first. Almost always on paved roads.
Talk your neighbor into buying his own rifle.

I'm in the same boat, but, wives frequently will endorse firearm purchases if it is a way to help you bond with your kids! Trust me on this one!http://www.co-ar15.com/forums/images/icons/icon12.gif

Its well on its way to having the battle scar look!

Reminds me of the guy on Arfcom that threw his rifle down his driveway a few times to get it "battle worn".
