The irony is rich in the proposal.
I've never had police training, so who am I to question the idea that the safest place to store a defense weapon is in a place that puts the shooter between resource officer and said defense weapon.
Nor am I inclined to question why Boulder is so convinced of a school shooting in their schools that they are willing to partially disarm their deputy for ALL other possible law enforcement scenarios.

The title is a bit misleading. I watched this story on the 5 o clock news last night, and they are referring to 2 schools in Boulder county, Niwot and Lyons high schools, due to increased response times in those locations.

City of Boulder and County of Boulder are two different entities.
One is strife with moonbats.
The other has some common sense.

From the story:
In an effort to expedite the response to a potential school shooting in Lyons or Niwot, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office wants to store AR-15 rifles in both schools.
The guns will be moved from school resource officers’ cars, where they are now kept, to safes in the school offices that could be unlocked only with a deputy’s fingerprint.
Having them locked up inside the school, where an officer will have to enter during an active shooting and open a safe, is faster than grabbing it out of the car he's driving?
What?
EDIT: I see. Its the SROs cars, not the deputy's cars. My bad.

I still don't get it. Are the SROs stationed inside both of those schools full time? I don't see how that gun is gonna be that useful or that quick to access unless the officer hangs out by the safe the entire time. I'm not opposed to the idea I just don't think it makes a lot of sense if quick access is the motivation for doing it.
SRO is generally onsite, so now they would not have to leave the building and come back with it

Doesn't matter where and how they store them. Expect a lot of NON Residents MOMS Demand ACTION to chain them self to the school doors in protest.

Yep..
I can see the reasoning for this. Been at both schools. Both are remote. Parents will probably be ok with it.
As long as there is no sccidents this will be good for 2A.
How can that be? You make Boulder a gun (AR) free place and now feel protection is needed? What changed? Why the immediate action against an attack?

Relax... just poking fun at the extreme views.

Yet again, the lack of a sarcasm font causes confusion.

Saw it on Chan2 last night. I assume it was stock footage used while they described the plan, but the M&P shown up close had a bumpstock on it. How out of place is that?

Sarcastica would save so much confusion.

Don't they do a telethon for Sarcastia?

Seems Boulder PD is stepping in and advocating sensibility where it doesn't exist with the local mentality.
Yes there is a lot of irony here, but if the takeaway ends up being YES.....then perhaps that's a sliver of hope that the anti's can accept the reality just a little bit.
It's a start maybe?

This is NOT City of Boulder Police Department , this is Boulder County Sheriff's office proposing this..
Two entirely different entities.

It's not Boulder PD, it's the county Sheriff's department. Boulder PD Chief Testa unfortunately recently threw his hat onto the ban wagon.
