Anthony Bourdain dead at 61 from an apparent suicide.

Although I may have disagreed with some of his points of view, I always appreciated his ability to truly bring me along on his cultural explorations.

RIP Anthony

Even though he leaned left and was from NY, I still enjoyed his travel shows. RIP

Bourdain frustrated the hell out of me. In his early days he was an open minded, individualist/libertarian with a punk rock attitude venturing out to see what the world was really like and brought a cool HS Thompson vibe to his adventures (which I really enjoyed). But as he got older and richer and more powerful he became just another elitist, authoritarian, Marxist, New York schmuck. So it's a lot harder for me to fell bad at his passing. Plus anyone that offs themselves that has kids deserves their special place in hell ... in a self indulgent, narcissistic fit of pique he's plunged a dagger into his own child's heart. That's really messed up.

So no, I don't hope he's resting in peace, I kinda hope he's burning.

Its too bad too, because he had talent and could have been such a force for good in the world.

I have no opinion of the guy.

But, I was listening to either CBS or ABC news on the top of the hour radio station news and they reported his suicide in France. They didn't mention the method he used. However, the reporter then started talking about how there was a suicide epidemic in the US and the easy availability of firearms was part of the reason. WTF?

The guy hung himself...in France. What does that have to do with suicide by gun in the US?

Fuckin' liberals.

Sad.

I wasn't a fan. Thought he was obnoxious. From what I have heard, he helped a lot of people.

David Carradine, Linkin Park guy. Robin Williams, Kate Spade. Now him. And all the other nobodies. Actually, last couple years has had quite a few hangings. Sad. Wonder what we can do to help?

I feel bad for his family.

Never even heard of the guy until this morning.

Sucks he wimped out, and I agree with Hosers sentiment. I've been in some scary places in my head many years ago, but that is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

Ask for some help or something, dumbass.

Did you ask for help?

At the time I was not contemplating suicide, so....no.

But thank you for asking.

People are not right in their mind when they kill themselves. Same as when people senselessly kill others. Probably why they don't just ask for help.

My wife loved watching his show. She loves to travel, loves food, and loves to cook so she was in heaven everytime she watched. She will miss him.

Probably why they don't just ask for help.

This is the selfish part that Hoser spoke of I think. I think they know to ask but they don't. Even if they are in a really messed up place in their head, they make a conscious decision to keep to themselves about it after a certain point. Perhaps even after kinda trying, and not liking the results from giving that a try.

Some sort of self brainwashing thing going on probably akin to where an addicts mind is also dwelling.....and at that point should we be remorseful, or feel at peace that at the least they only killed themselves instead of turning their misdirected emotional distress upon innocent people who are around them?

I think they know when they've made their decision, and block everything else out....and they start planning stuff for self or otherwise.

I wish they'd just ask for the help and follow through with that instead.

Ban belts, ropes, electrical cords, etc. It must be the implement that's the problem.

I liked his show early on, it was entertaining.

This is exactly what I think.

...Sad. Wonder what we can do to help?

The easily said but hard to execute answers are: love others, be available as a friend, listen, take people seriously when they express pain or numbness, check up on people you know who are struggling, take care of yourself so you can be there for those who will need you.

Be safe.

Every situation is complex and seemingly incomprehensible from the outside.

Only he knew what demons were devouring his soul. His history of drug abuse might provide some clues.

This was not an impulsive decision, suicide by hanging takes some forethought.

Prayers to his family and friends.

When I was in the restaurant biz a thousand years ago I thought he was cool. Course I thought I was cool too. When I heard the news today it sucked so I guess I still cared. I don't think he ever represented conservative values and the direction he went is the same way the majority of America is going so not going to let that take away what I liked about him. He was an ego-maniac but most good chefs are. I don't know if his food was any good but I thought it was great the way he explored other cultures foods. I spent time in other countries and always enjoyed finding out what local food I liked. I don't need to like the person or agree with them on much at all to appreciate a little or even a lot about them. If I expected people to treat me that way I would be in trouble. I hope for the best for him, not that it will do him much good. I wonder if "The End" was playing when he offed himself

I really enjoyed visiting the world, I would otherwise not see, through his eyes (and camera.) I do remember he was anti Trump before being anti Trump was cool, lol. The last picture I saw of him was walking down the beach, looking buff at 61 years of age, holding hands with some hot Italian? chick. I've recently lost about 80 pounds at 54 years old, just because I know that if I don't do it now, I never will. Now, where's my hot Italian girl?!

Rest In Peace to a Joi de Vivant.

Many suicides are due to depression. It's an evil bitch. The truly lost person believes there is no hope for themselves. They also believe they are a burden on everyone around them. They frequently kill themselves thinking they are doing their loved ones a favor. Anti depressants, while flawed, are huge life savers. Many people who are headed toward suicide turn it right around in 30 days on Meds.

Sadly, some are so far gone they can't help themselves, and won't let someone else help.

saying all that, I still don't get it how someone with kids could kill himself. Facts don't always bring understanding, I guess.

Cool shows, and probably used to be a great guy but the left infected him to the point of suicide unfortunately. We all have to go some time, he chose the easy way out.

I wasn't a fan of his television shows, particularly the travel shows, and always felt he was overrated because he was part of the trendy self-appointed elite but I generally hate to see anyone commit suicide (there are rare circumstances like Richard Farnsworth's death where I understand why they do it). In this case, it seems like one more selfish act from a selfi-possessed egocentric.

Unless I am missing a lot, he is about the least affected person you could find today. This man made his living in traveling to places, and doing things that no one else does.

He believed what he believed, and killed himself.

There's lots of killing yourself (suicide) going around today.

It’s a cliche but: Dying is easy. The brave stick around and keep living whether they want to or not.

Ok now it gets interesting

Apparently he had been harassed lately by Hillary's goons (because he spoke out against her over her support of Weinstien ... who had harassed his girlfriend). This coupled with the fact that Kate Spade had ties to the Clinton Foundation and Q has been talking about the upcoming "Suicide Weekend" for months now means its a great time to watch the conspiracy theorists run.

Your going to have to ban hills, and starts too. Once the belts are gone there will be more deaths from people tripping down them because their pants fell down...

I never watched his shows, heard he was an ass. Then I was channel switching the other day, and saw they were binging him on a channel. Had him on for 2 straight shows. Found him boring and uninspired. Kind of a downer.

What I saw Saturday, if this is the chic that does Jiu-Jitsu? She's not hot at all. More like a 20-20. Looks good at 20 ft or 20 mph.

The silver lining here is that his show was one of the top rated ones that airs on CNN.

Without Bourdain, CNN's ratings will likely sink even lower.
