I'm thinking about turning my A2 into a flat-top by swapping out the upper (re-using barrel, gastube, lower, etc). The current upper/bcg combo has about 1000 rounds through it. Can I use the existing bcg in the new upper or will that cause issues since it has worn with the old upper?

If I have to replace the bcg and the upper, that turns a $120 upgrade into a $300 upgrade+, so I'd like to re-use the current BCG if I can. Advice?

Nope, you're fine. Nothing to it at all. If you need help with the swap, I'm always available and its a slow week over here.

Thanks for the info and the offer! I think I can handle it. I've got all the tools and read up on the process. Now I just need to find some time to commune with my rifle.

The gas tube may give some trouble at the gas block. If you can get aound taking it off I would.

Give the FSB a shot of Kroil or the like and let it sit for a while. Drive out the pins and remove the FSB instead as a unit.
Agreed on leaving the gas tube alone of you can.
