I'm thinking about getting a Tokarev as a low-cost collectible.

Questions:

1) Is Classic Firearms good to go? Or are there issues to be aware of with them?

2) Is their option to "Hand Select Best of 10 for Cosmetic Condition" worth the extra $20?

3) How accurate are their condition descriptions?

Are there other vendors I should consider ordering from?

I've dealt with them a few times and never had issues. I think their condition descriptions are pretty accurate. Paying extra for hand-select depends on the general grade of what you're buying. What Tokarev are you looking at?

Since it is just to have as a cool piece of history and I won't shoot it much, I'll go for one of the 7.62 x 25 models, probably the Zastava M57 model.

The reason I asked about condition was that the M88A version in 9mm had the option to buy at different condition levels for an upcharge (or a discount in the case of the lowest condition).

What is the initial rating on the Tokarev ? Good, very good ?
I picked up a very good rated Star BM from them awhile back and paid the hand select, I was impressed with the appearance.
I would add it in again if I ordered another used - surplus firearm from them.

I've had no issues with my multiple dealings with them. For used/surplus items that I want in good shape, I pay for the upcharge and haven't been disappointed yet.

For the M57 It's Very good/Excellent.

For the M88A it's Standard with the following options:
Select Your Grade *
Select your desired grading from the options below.

Fair Condition -$20.00

Standard Good Condition

Very Good Condition +$20.00

Excellent Condition +$40.00

As well as the pick from 10 for another $20 on top of that.

I bought 2 of their M57s and they are in great condition. I don't think it's worth paying extra for hand select on those. The m57 is nice because they can be returned to their original military config with a simple trigger swap. No extra holes drilled into the frame or slide.

I’ve ordered a few times with classic, two collectible pistols and one new pistol, and have had positive dealings with them. On the collector type guns, I didn’t pay for hand select and both exceeded my expectations on condition. I would gladly deal with them again and have been eyeing those M57s also.
