I found a very hard used Nighthawk Talon from a "guy" that I know. It looked as if it had been literally rode hard and put up wet. It really looked a bit like it had ridden in the bed of a pickup for about a decade. The deal was just way too good to pass up -think used Glock price. I knew that Nighthawk advertised it had a lifetime warranty that followed the gun. I had already function tested the gun and it shot well with no functional issues with a wide range of ammo. I own several 1911's and shoot them frequently. I've shot Single Stack Nationals on several occasions.
The primary issue I provided Nighthawk for the warranty work was some peening around the slide stop notch.
I called Nighthawk and described the issue and the fact I had just purchased. Their records showed it was one of their early guns and it was over 10 years old. They knew the exact manufacture date I just don't recall it. They sent me a mailing label within 5 minutes, yes they paid shipping. Their attitude and desire to help was amazing through all this. Almost as if they were asking me to send it in and not me hoping to get free warranty work.
They had it for about 4 weeks. After looking at it they decided to replace the entire top half. New slide, barrel, bushing, firing pin, extractor - all of it.
The slide obviously had a new finish so they decided they should refinish the frame as well.
While in the shop I asked them to install a new set of sights to replace the aging night sights.
They function tested and even provided a new test target. (Didn't want you to think I could shoot it that well)
They paid for return shipping and the sights were reasonable.
The whole experience just made me appreciate good American companies living up to their values and doing it with pride and willingness.
Y'all know I don't post much but dang - it just seems so uncommon to have a great customer experience these days I felt they deserved a shout out.
I'll go dark again but here are some pictures.
