I found a very hard used Nighthawk Talon from a "guy" that I know. It looked as if it had been literally rode hard and put up wet. It really looked a bit like it had ridden in the bed of a pickup for about a decade. The deal was just way too good to pass up -think used Glock price. I knew that Nighthawk advertised it had a lifetime warranty that followed the gun. I had already function tested the gun and it shot well with no functional issues with a wide range of ammo. I own several 1911's and shoot them frequently. I've shot Single Stack Nationals on several occasions.

The primary issue I provided Nighthawk for the warranty work was some peening around the slide stop notch.
I called Nighthawk and described the issue and the fact I had just purchased. Their records showed it was one of their early guns and it was over 10 years old. They knew the exact manufacture date I just don't recall it. They sent me a mailing label within 5 minutes, yes they paid shipping. Their attitude and desire to help was amazing through all this. Almost as if they were asking me to send it in and not me hoping to get free warranty work.

They had it for about 4 weeks. After looking at it they decided to replace the entire top half. New slide, barrel, bushing, firing pin, extractor - all of it.
The slide obviously had a new finish so they decided they should refinish the frame as well.
While in the shop I asked them to install a new set of sights to replace the aging night sights.
They function tested and even provided a new test target. (Didn't want you to think I could shoot it that well)
They paid for return shipping and the sights were reasonable.

The whole experience just made me appreciate good American companies living up to their values and doing it with pride and willingness.
Y'all know I don't post much but dang - it just seems so uncommon to have a great customer experience these days I felt they deserved a shout out.
I'll go dark again but here are some pictures.

Wow! A Nighthawk for a used Glock price? Nice score even without the stellar customer service. Even better that they treated you so well. I had a similar experience with Leupold and a garage sale find of a scope made in the 50s.

Got a before pic? :)

Wish I had thought of doing one. I didn't imagine they were going to do the work they did. I figured I'd just have a well used but good shooter 1911. Figured it would look the same when it returned.

That is good to hear. Never enough good 1911s.

Now that IS outstanding service and thanks for passing it on. I’ve always been a Les Baer owner and swear by his pistols, only one has ever needed anything done but Les is well known for being just a tad on the grumpy side.

If I ever find myself flush enough to afford a high end 1911 I will add a Nighthawk.

I had a similar experience with Wilson Combat a few months back. I broke an AR bolt at the range. I called them up and they sent me a whole new BCG. After I received the parts I noticed a slight difference in the parts. Long story short I had called them and and told them that it may not be their bolt. They said that they would check it and if it was not theirs we could settle up later. Turns out it was not their part, I felt a little stupid as I had bought several from them when they were on sale. But they did not charge me to replace someone else's shoddy part. Consequently I will never again but anyone else's BCGs. Never had to send any of my pistols in for work, as they have never failed.
