Took off Sat morning and rode up to Bonners Ferry on a partial tour of the renowned Selkirk Loop...supposed to be one of the best motorcycle rides in N America. Nice day...cool with a few minor showers but no big deal. Arrived at the motel at around 3pm. If you ever find your way up there, highly recommend The Log Inn for a place to stay.

Sun morning I was out early heading up north. Cloudy and cool but very tolerable. Crossed the border at the Porthill station.

From the border it's aboot 10 mins to Creston, BC. Not much in the town but did have a donut and coffee at Tim Horton's. Creston is on the eastern side of the loop.

From Creston I took Hwy 3 east to the little community of Yahk, BC. I wanted to stop by to pick up a few girly things for Mrs BG from the Yahk Soap and Candle Co (http://www.earthwearbody.com/yahksoapandcandlecohome). Everything is homemade and they use goat's milk for a lot of their products. The goats, Walter, Buttin and Toot, are the stars of the place. They have a ramp from their very nice yard up to the top of the covered porch of the building. There's about 6" of grass and other edible goodies on top for them to munch on and they hang out up there and greet customers. Side note: There's an ice cream shop next door. Nothing tops off a donut like a scoop of homemade ice cream.

Time to head back to the USA. Crossed the border coming back at the Eastport crossing. (ETA: It's kinda odd to see the Border Patrol cruising around Bonners Ferry):

Made the short ride back to Bonners Ferry and found the most amazing antique store I've ever seen. Couldn't help myself. I bought a 155 lb Trenton anvil that's about 100 years old that I had to have (photo posted in the Anvil thread in the Photo Gallery). Now I have an excuse to drive back up there...with a pickup (so I can carry more stuff). Also found the beginnings of a late 40s Chevy Loadmaster that I'll someday have:
