Any of you raise cattle in 4H.

1st you name them.

Then, keep them in a pen
feed them grain
brush them out
teach them to lead with a harness so you can show them

Win a few ribbons

Finally eat them! YUMMY!

I bet that young guy is still pink instead of red inside from being milk fed.
Elk Veal!

I'd admire him 'till he was done.
Doing so before would be like shooting a buck as he is mounted on a doe.
Some things you just gotta give a little time.

I guess it depends on how hungry I am...

I wouldn't shoot it. Killing young wildlife destroys ecosystems and it wouldn't have much meat on it anyways.

anyone old enough to remember being able to harvest an elk/deer for camp meat?

Those young ones are by far the best eating.
Too good for hamburger!

Nah, I couldn't shoot a pup like that. But I enjoyed the video, thanks!

Hard to tell the size, it looks pretty decent, maybe a yearling. I'd take it...they're very tender. I shot a yearling (looked big in the scope at 75yds...lol) once, and even the round steaks were cut with your fork tender. Best meat I've ever had!

I'd make one of those eagles I saw in another video on here do it for me, and carry it out.

Drat, the video has been removed by the user.

I realize that the meat is more tender and tastier from young game but shooting yearlings or younger is never something that appealed to me. I'd prefer to let the animal grow up and (as Mtn Man said) make it worth my while haul the meat out.

I'm originally from Missouri and used to Whitetail hunt back there. You have to (or at least used to have to - don't know if this is still valid) check every animal you harvested with a game officer @ check stations. Every year I used to hear from these guys about hunters who would bring in deer that were so young that they were smaller than dobermans. It just doesn't seem right to me.

Yeah, a 4-500# doberman

In areas around Houston,Tx a Doberman size white tail is a good size deer.

Wow. I'm just so used to seeing animals that sized with collars around their necks and being walked by their owners (usually pooping in my yard...the animals, not the owners).

Hearing the "this player out hustles everybody" speech.Granted, it usually is about me, I know that in other sports, I cant stand it.Or the "why dont any of you care" speech. Because every time, I know Im one of the players that is giving his all, and I hate feeling as if my coach is accusing me of not.

When I get an Elk tag, I want to get an Elk. Full Size Elk, that is. A small Elk, as far as I'm concerned, is around 400 pounds. Anything smaller is a waste of time and effort.
